Library: Friday [14.12]

Karal was a little late and a lot dishevelled when he arrived to open the library.

Early morning encounters with possibly-demon dogs never went well.

Karal was vainly trying to tidy himself up a little bit. It wasn't going well.

Karal's off in class, but the library's still here. He'll be back soon if anyone wants a book checked out.

There was a small stack of books on the desk next to Karal and he was completely engrossed.

It's lunch time, the library's closed, but Karal's still reading intently, and the stack might have gotten a wee bit higher.

Karal's gone from reading to writing, pen tapping against the page when he stopped to think.

There was a moment when Andrew considered turning around, but he had books to return and Karal struck him as the type not to hold someone's drunken actions against them.

"Um, hey there," he said, not exactly looking Karal in the eyes.

Karal blinked, having been completely lost in what he was doing, then smiled a welcome. "Andrew, hello." Drunken actions were something he'd never hold against anyone. "Welcome to the library."

"Thank you very much," Andrew replied. "I have some books to return. And I'm sorry about the other night. These might be a little overdue." He sat the books down, pleased with how smoothly he had slipped the apology in there.

Karal went just the tiniest bit pink around the ears and shook his head. "There's no need to be sorry. It's fine," he assured him, carefully lining up the edges of the books in a neat stack. "How were you in the morning?"

"I've had better mornings," Andrew admitted. "But I had fun at the bar. I don't regret it. Much." Some of the details were fuzzy, but he remembered enough to feel a tinge of shame.

"Good! And it was fun for me as well," he said firmly. It had only been a little embarrassing, after all. "Do you still want to come down to meet Trenor sometime?"

Andrew smiled. "I would love to come down and meet Trenor! I've never really spent time around horses. Is there anything I should know? Like not to wear strong cologne or something?" Not that Andrew wore cologne.

Karal laughed. "No, nothing like that. But if you have boots, they're probably a good idea, and if you bring a carrot or an apple, Trenor will love you forever," he replied. "You've never ridden at all?"

"Apples and carrots, got it." Andrew made a mental note. "Nope. I got to pet a miniature pony once when I was a child, but that's about a close as I've gotten."

He nodded, trying to picture a miniature pony and failing. "If you decide you want to try it, you could," he offered. "Oh! And are you still willing to show me how to use a camera?"

"Really? You let other people ride Trenor? I mean, if you're really okay with that, I would, um, be game." Andrew bounced a little.

"And of course I'm still going to show you how to use a camera!"

"Thank you." Karal grinned. "And of course I would! He's not the best horse to learn on, he can be fidgety, but he's a good horse, and patient. Wear comfortable pants and you can ride him, umm, maybe tomorrow? If you've got no other plans?"

"Hmmm, I had planned to get my Christmas shopping done tomorrow. Would you be free on Sunday?" Andrew didn't want to miss out on this opportunity. "But, I mean, maybe I could do tomorrow morning."

"Sunday would be fine, truly. Actually, it might even be better. I can take him for a long ride tomorrow and tire him out, so he's not fidgety for you on Sunday."

"Great! I'll bring the camera, some carrots, and comfortable pants, and we'll Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid it up." Andrew grinned.

"I have no idea who they are," he said, but grinned anyway. "But it sounds like fun."

"They were bank robbers in the Wild West. There's been a good deal of speculation about the true nature of their, um, partnership. But, um, yeah..."

Andrew thought it best to stop there. "Anyhoo, I'll see you on Sunday!"

Karal decided it would be best not to ask. "Until Sunday!"

I go to bed in a minute, but I'll be up later.
