15 Ways to Protect Yourself and Others: Week 13, Period 3

For some reason that would probably be explained, class was held in the Home Ec room today. When the class arrived, five of the 'kitchen stations' were set up with food and several copies of a fat book.

Aly was sitting on one of the tables away from the food, looking slightly amused. "Good morning everybody," she said once they were all assembled. "When the class started, I warned you that my idea of protection might not be completely the same as everyone else's, and this class is going to be a good example of that."

She waved over the array of kitchen stations. "Some of you probably know how to cook. Some of you wouldn't have the least idea in the world. Today, hopefully, that second group is going to change a bit. Because sometimes protecting someone means feeding them and making sure they have energy for the next day. There should be a copy of that cookbook for everyone to take with them. It's nothing fancy. I can barely cook so I'm not giving you Julia Child or anything here."

"Your task for today is to work with a group or by yourself and make something edible out of the ingredients at your table. Then share it amongst your classmates. Breakfast being the most important meal of the day and all."

"Any questions? I don't want any of you leaving before letting me try a bite or a piece of what you make."

[OOC: OCD is coming up. Class brought to you by me being really, really hungry.]

And of course Seely had gone straight for the red meat. Although he was at least considering doing something other than sticking it over a flame then eating it.

And via the process of elimination, Bridge ends up at the first station. He's now flipping through the book looking for ideas. He's not exactly in the group of accomplished cooks, considering he can count on one hand the number of times he's actually cooked something instead of pressing a button and getting it instantly during the past year.

Anders went for something pretty simple: skillet smashed potatoes (http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/loris-skillet-smashed-potatoes-recipe.html), and a red pepper, egg, and steak-bit scramble.

Red meat!

Sokka mashed the potatoes, stirred in the scallions and peppers, and stuffed the steaks with the mixture. Then he grilled them just enough that they probably wouldn't give anyone salmonella and called it done.

Wyatt hardboiled a couple eggs. There. That was food.

Yeah, Dean went right for the station with bacon and eggs among the ingredients. What every growing boy needed for breakfast as far as he was concerned.

Prue went to the station with the pasta. Pasta she could handle. Maybe. Possibly.

Peter went straight for the bacon and eggs. He could handle that!

Aravis did the smart thing.

She selected a few apples and the walnuts, and considered herself done. You could eat apples and nuts without doing anything to them at all. And maybe those berries, too.

Eve was attempting to make an omelette. And doing pretty well at it, after stealing some bacon from station two.

Okay so the olives and turkey breast, and bread might be unusual ingredients, but Billy set out to make an omlette.

Food was good and Zuko moved to one of the tables, humming as he decided to find out what would happen if you mixed everything.

Z eyed the food, wondering if she had to use everything. If so, she didn't want to think about what garbanzo beans with green beans and olives would taste like. Ew.
