In today's detention, you may choose to...
#1 Give me a pint of your blood, dental impressions, hair samples, finger/toe/lip prints, and a few swabs (nothing too painful.)
#2 Participate in an experiment with me. If I am going to waste my Saturday here, we might as well get some data out of it. Not recommended if you don't have a strong stomach, or have a fear of bugs and/or blood.

Oh, and say hello to Cocky Horror, Sue R. System, and Max Roach Jr. Don't worry, Madagascan giant hissing roaches are fairly docile, and won't bite. They just need a work-out, so you'll see them scurrying around. Step on any of them, and you'll be back here next weekend.

Oh, I forgot, nose clips, if you are squeamish. I'll be doing some blood splatter analysis in the corner, but the samples have been around for a few weeks so they are pretty ripe if that type of thing offends you. Werewolf blood gets phenomenally rank apparently.

Lana comes to the door nervously. "Dr. Grissom? I'm Lana Lang..." She sees the hissing roaches and pales noticeably. "Um... I was given detention for today and..." One of the roaches scuttled by a little too close and she backs against the wall, barely suppressing a whimper.

"Don't worry Miss Lang, they don't bite. They are actually kind of sweet." Grissom picks up a cockroach from the floor and holds it in his hand, extending it in her direction. "Do you want to hold him?"

Lana shrank back even further against the wall. "Not unless I have to," she said in a trembling voice.

Buffy steps up to Lana. Since they were unfairly given detention by the same teacher, she figured sticking close wouldn't hurt.

Lana saw the girl step up closer and gave her a grateful smile.

"Oh no, you don't have to. Why don't you have a seat, and if any of them crawl on to your feet, just gently nudge them off with a book or the back of your hand, okay?"

"Okay. Um, thanks." Lana grabbed a poncho and goggles and headed for a seat, looking over to see if the other girl was going to come too.

Buffy grabs the goggles and poncho and falls into step with Lana. "Hi, I'm Buffy."

"Hi, I'm Lana. God, I can't believe I'm here! I've never had detention before and this..." She shudders. "I'm so scared I can't believe I'm still standing. I'm glad I'm not alone here, though!"

"Let me guess, Beeblebrox?" Buffy sighs. "No, you're not alone, and to be honest, I'm scared, too."

"Yeah, I went in to drop his course and..." Lana shrugged. "You have a problem with him, too?" She was quiet for a minute then said, "And thanks for saying you're scared too. Makes me feel like a little less of a wimp."

"Yeah, I have problems with him and will be dropping his class after this." She smirks. "Of course, I probably shouldn't have inferred that he was a coward for hopping onto his ship and leaving the planet when the zombies attacked. It's scary not knowing what's in store."

"I keep telling myself I'm going to be brave and then something like these roaches is here and... Well, we can stick together. I'll watch your back and you can watch mine. So... what kind of experiments do you think Dr. Grissom is going to do?"

"That definitely sounds like a plan," Buffy agreed. "As for his experiments, I have no idea."

Dude... Jayne's on the field trip. I don't think he'll be making it in.

Not that I'm offering to serve detention for him. Just a messenger.

"No, that's okay. I'm sure the administration is aware of the situation, I'll put him on the list for next week."

Buffy steps up to Dr. Grissom and signs in.

"You can take samples, but no experiments. I still don't know the extent of my powers."

Marty comes in and complies with all detention experiments. (OOC: Will be offline all day.)

"Sir? Is there any way I can serve my deention next week? I have a friend that is missing and my help is needed to find him."

"That sounds acceptable. I'll notify the principal and perhaps you can serve the other half-day next week. If you need any supplies to locate your friend, let me know. I'll be in the detention hall all day."
