Fandom Invasions Class #9 (Thursday period 3)

When the class entered the Danger Shop, they found themselves standing on the grounds around the school.

"Good morning," John said. "Last week was about zombies, this week we're going to be covering an invasion that was outside my own expertise. Which just goes to prove that no matter what you're used to dealing with, eventually in Fandom you're going to run into something completely outside your experience.

"For me, that was when we were invaded by dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. I never dealt with them before, but I took what I did know and applied it to that situation, with the result being that I have the makings of a saber tooth catskin rug if I wanted one." John grinned.

"So today's about using what you've learned in facing the other threats we've studied in this class, as well as any personal experience you have to deal with Fandom's version of a blast from the past."

Claire had learned from previous classes to turn up with a baseball bat.

Just in case.

A sabre tooth cat sniffed the air and turned its head in Claire's direction.

Claire immediately thought about how a baseball bat wasn't any help against sabretooths.

but she raised it gamely and stepped back, ready.

Jack was there. With a golf club named Big Bertha.

A triceratops was grazing nearby.

Three-pointy-thing'd dinosaur.

Herbivore, right? .......right?

Jack decides to test this by approaching the dino slowly.

The basketball in his hands was, Troy thought, a rather ingenious improvised weapon, and one with which he was the most comfortable. He just hoped it actually, y'know, worked as a weapon.

He totally wasn't flashing back to hiding in a cave overnight.

A velociraptor nearby looked curiously in Troy's direction.

Marco kicked off his shoes and stripped out of his sweater. He waited to shuck the rest of his clothes in case he maybe for once he didn't have to do something weird to get away from a dinosaur.

A stegosaurus was lumbering nearby; it stopped and nosed at the sweater then tried taking a bite of it.

"Oh come on!" Marco complained. "Does that even look edible?"

Valentine was bouncing from foot to foot, totally ready to turn, run in the other direction, and climb a very, very large tree.

A shadow fell over Valentine, if he looked up he'd see a pteranodon swooping down at him.

But what if Valentine didn't want to look up? Looking up meant that he'd see the cause of the shadow was a flapping winged beast. Looking up meant that he probably wouldn't be able to hide in that tree, after all.

So, Valentine didn't dare look up. But he certainly didn't mind running. He figured he was very good at running away, after all.

Adam had a staff in hand, just as a precaution. He was sure he really wanted to go up against a dinosaur or anything like that.

Even if it was a simulation...

A sabre tooth cat nearby looked consideringly at Adam as if he was a potential chewtoy.

Adam caught sight of the sabretooth and decided not to make any sudden moves.

Jenny didn't have any weapons. What she did have was a cigarette and a mean look in her eye.

Bring it.

A velociraptor cocked its head to the side and looked back at Jenny.

"Hello, little nasty," Jenny said amiably, lighting her cigarette with a spark between her thumb and finger. "I've been doing some research since last we met. You're not a stegosaurus at all, are you?"

Robin was ready to hop, which was how he'd survived last time.

A pteranodon swooped low in the sky heading towards Robin.

Hmm, a complication. So instead of jumping up, he jumped into an alley with dark corners.

Dinosaurs again? Crap.

Well, at least these would be going away at the end of the period. Which was the only reason Eve was preparing to face something and not running off in the other direction.
