Alternative Tactics, Wednesday Period 1, 07/11

It was definitely a Danger Shop day, but Lieutenant Kerrigan was looking a little bit more frazzled than usual. If there was a reason for this, she was not going to announce it to the class.

Instead, she would probably just yell at someone given an excuse.

"Today, we're going to be dealing with air assaults," she informed the class briskly. Her eyes were doing that neat little staring daggers thing. "Obviously, when you're outnumbered, unless you've got damn good maneuvering skills or a rock the size of a planet over your head, assaults from the air are going to cause some major damage which will probably end in your horrible death. That's where sheer force of armament is going to be on your side. A good shot with the right gun can take a bird right out of the sky."

What followed was a rant so technical as to be downright impressive.

"Keep your heads nice and down, kids," she finally segued probably much to everyone's relief, "You do not want a bullet from a Wraith cruiser in your head. Really puts a crimp in your day if you're, say, powdering your nose or pondering your existential angst, Adama. It's all a matter of range - take that ship out before it takes you and there's no problem. So you kids are going to go get some practice today, and if I hear anyone complaining I'm going to--"

Pause.

"Do something Dean Jones would probably disagree with. Get working."

[ wait for the ocd up! ]

Lee didn't think he had existential angst, thank you very much. He thought his angst was very tangible and he was almost tempted to share it with Kerrigan but maybe she liked his angst and would steal it.

So, Lee just sat there quietly and stared.

Adam listened to the lecture, processing what Professor Kerrigan had to say. He knew a little bit about air assaults and wasn't about to do anything stupid during the scenario.

Considering that Anemone was usually the person doing the air assault, she was also taking notes on how not to get blown out of the air by the opposing faction.

Rikku blinked. And made sure she was on her best behavior today and as non-ADHD as possible.

Rikku still wasn't an expert with guns - took too long lining up the shot and being sure, didn't have instincts to trust just yet. So the lockdown rifle seemed a better bet than the marine one.

Sokka listened to the lecture and took lots and lots of detailed notes.

And snickered at Lee.

"YEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"

Sokka opened fire on the ships BEFORE they got into range, so that there were bullets in the air already waiting for them when they got too close to him. And he didn't let off the trigger until they blew up.

Also, there were lots of bloodlust-induced battle cries coming from his general vicinity.

Possibly thinking more about bachelor's parties than tactics today...

Molly paid close attention and took careful notes today.

Re: Marine Rifle

[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com 2007-11-08 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Molly's thinking was similar to Sokka's. She knew she wasn't a very good shot so she filled the air with bullets for the ship to fly through. Once it was in range and she got a bead on the ship, she kept firing until it came down.

Re: Marine Rifle

Z figured this one might be better with her endemic to the genre crappy aim, and, due to said crappy aim, used the same basic tactic as Sokka and Molly, filling the air with lots and lots of bullets. Ooooh, also endemic to the genre pretty explosions.
