Keeping Your Wits About You... [Monday 2nd Period 10-11] Class # 9

There were the requisite pastries and warm morning caffienated beverages on hand today though rather than waiting by the desk with a grin on his face, Wilson was pacing with his cell phone in his ear.

When everybody was settled in for class, he asked whoever he was talking with to hold please, set the phone down and walked to the white board.

"All right guys. I've got a bit of an emergency today called hard close, auditors and teaching someone new my job so this is what we're going to do. A couple classes ago I showed you all a movie. Today I want you to pair up and one of you will be the protagonist and the other the nemesis. At the end of the class I want an essay from each of you describing the challenge thrown at you by your opponant and how you countered it."

He wrote this up on the board and then stepped back and walked back towards his phone.

"All right guys, go to it."

"One of us has to be the protagonist and the other has to be the weird goblin who kidnaps the baby brother. I could do that. If one of my brothers were kidnapped, I wouldn't be one rescuing them," said Hoshi.

Wyatt grinned. "Let me guess, annoying little brothers?" he said. "Sure, that's fine. You can pretend you kidnapped Chris."

"Not so much annoying as they treat me like I'm some sort of freak," said Hoshi. "Okay, say I've kidnapped your brother and I'm holding him in my airtight fortress in New Berlin. What do you do?"

"I'd orb in to rescue him," Wyatt said. "I wouldn't let anything stop me."

Hoshi frowned. "Too easy. Okay, suppose he was in my fortress in New Berlin on the moon in 2144, which is when I come from?"

"Then I'd find a spell to bring me there," Wyatt said. "There'd have to be some way."

"In that case, remind me to have you look up that spell if I decide to go home during winter break," said Hoshi. "Okay, so I've got your brother in my fortress in New Berlin in 2144. You've found a spell, you've orbed there, and now you've got to get past a very big, very ugly Klingon guarding the door. What do you do?"

"Use telekinesis to knock him out of the way?" Wyatt said. "What's a Klingon, anyway?"

"Hope that you never have to find out. You don't give up easily, do you?" asked Hoshi.

"Not when it's my family," Wyatt said seriously. "Nothing could stop me from getting to Chris."

"I'm not sure how far I'd go for my family, but it's never come up before," said Hoshi.

"It's come up here a little," Wyatt said. "Chris got kidnapped by aliens. That's when my powers really manifested, because I was so pissed that someone would hurt him."

"What kind of aliens?" asked Hoshi, curious.

"I'm not sure what they were called," Wyatt answered. "They were humanoid and had kind of a weird fin thing on their heads and lots of tentacles coming out of their backs."

"It doesn't sound like any of the aliens from my world," said Hoshi, filing the information away in her mind for future reference. Her world was still a few years away from its first deep-space exploration, though, so she had no idea what aliens to expect.

"They were pretty nasty," Wyatt said. "Kidnapped a few people and did experiments on them. But we blew up their ship, so I don't think they'll be sending any more this way."
