fandomhigh | Art 101, Period 4, Class 9 (Monday 11-5)

Instead of art stations, there was just a huge tarp on the floor of the art room today. The only other clue as to what was going on was a table with white bedsheets, white body paint, and a laurel wreath or two on it, and their teacher standing in front of a bulletin board full of pictures of statues, grinning broadly.

"Last week, we sculpted in clay. There are lots of other kinds of sculpture--in stone, bronze, steel, and glass, for starters--but we don't have that kind of time, and quite frankly I don't trust some of you with a chisel or a blowtorch." If anyone thought his gaze drifted to Jamie Madrox, well, it wasn't their imagination. "So instead, today ~~I'm shamelessly stealing a class from my predecessor~~ life imitates art. I want you to break up into groups and pick a statue--it can be one of these on the board, or it can be another one you know of--to recreate as accurately as possible while remaining clothed using these supplies," with a gesture to the table, "and one of your group. If you choose one of the equestrian statues, there is a rocking horse available."

"Who? Me?" Jamie asked innocently. "I have no idea what you mean by that."

"Clearly, I must have mistaken you for one of your duplicates," she said with a laugh. "As you're a very obedient rule-abiding sort, and I shan't have to resort to threats to keep you in line."

"Right. If you're looking for the troublemaker version of me? He's wearing a sombrero and a mustache. He also has a French accent."

"Of course," Naminé nodded. "So many Frenchmen these days don't bother with their heritage. Good to know some still wear the sombrero."

"So do you want to do some work of art?" Jamie asked. "Clothing is completely up to you."

"I must insist on clothing," she said. "Last time art was clothing-optional, you got detention and I was reprimanded for encouraging you. We will not be repeating the mistakes of the past."

"Okay. But only so you won't get in trouble," Jamie said. "So what piece of art shal we do?"

"I think you would make a rather exquisite Achilles (http://www.hellenic-art.com/statues/achillesstatue.htm)," she said, nodding seriously. "But only if you can get the proper dramatic face and all."

"You mean something like this?"

Jamie then grabbed his lower leg and hopped around on the other one with an expression of pain on his face.

"Your pain is utterly convincing," Naminé said. "We should see about finding you a dais. And some sort of headdress."

"Would a sombrero work?"

"I think, in this case? A sombrero would be completely acceptable," she laughed. "Come on, let's set up your artistic debut."
