Alternative Tactics, Wednesday Period One, 31/10

"Today, we're going to be talking about elemental weaponry. That is to say, weapons involving the elements, not basic knives. I think we've got another teacher for that."

Kerrigan wasted no time in the Danger Room today: she was lecturing from another simulated rooftop, all suited up and ready. On the ground, the armor was lined up for the taking, too, although they were outfitted with strange canons on the arms.

"Obviously, different weapons mean different strategies. In a micro tactics situation such as we're dealing with here, they can make all the difference between winning the game and getting your buttcheeks burnt off by a stray Firebat. You'll have to adapt your strategy based on the availability of elemental weapons as well as the situation, of course - in a close-combat aggressive situation, you'll want a fire-based weapon on your side. When stealth or escape are more of the issue, anything related to ice will help you lock your opponent down for long enough to reach your objective. Earth-based forces will help destabilize a large area in case of great numbers. As for air -- we'll deal with that next week."

She went on a long and impressively technical tangent about earth- and ice-related attacks (referring to the latter mostly as 'lockdown' for some reason) before coming around to the actual details of the day's exercise.

"Just to show you what a good grasp on your weaponry will do, we'll be working as Firebats today. Firebats are close-range fighters with flamethrowers attached - they won't help you one bit if you're up shit creek while the bad guys are firing canons at your posterior, but nothing gets a close assailant down like a case of fire to the face. This means you'll have to maneuver in a way that keeps you close to potentially deadly long-range enemies.

Like everything, though, remember that you can't break an army with one type of attack alone. Combining a Firebat with marines and stealth agents will get you a maneuverable strike force that can take out and infiltrate the long distance defenses while still keeping an eye sharp for any nasty little surprises. Just remember to keep your close range in your close range and your long range in your long range, or you're pretty much screwed. Use the assets you've got, kids."

...no, no fire. Fire is bad.

Peter, however, is here.

Peter listened very carefully and even jotted down notes. Ending up on fire or 'locked down' was definitely, definitely a bad idea here.

Peter glanced around for someone to pair up with.

Isabel was attempting to take notes. This was a bit difficult since her right hand was actually a pumpkin at the moment.

"Want to pair up?" Isabel asked.

Anemone was diligently taking notes, occasionally illustrating her text with little pictures of stick-figures wielding flamethrowers to demonstrate the ideas.

"Sure thing," Peter said with a grin. "How goes it, Isabel?"
