Journalism Field Trip

Mitsumushi was waiting silently outside the library, a stem of flowers in one hand, almost dancing to and fro as she explored the hallway. She'd been here often enough with Abe no Seimei, but this was the first time she'd waited to guide anyone else.

Spotting the man she'd agreed to meet, she came to a graceful halt, smiling and waiting for him to approach.

Spider was in a relatively good mood this morning. Bag over his shoulder, he approached the pretty girl and gave her a smile. "Good morning, Mitsumushi. Thank you for agreeing to this."

"It was my pleasure," she told him softly, returning his smile. "When do you wish to leave?"

"As soon as my merry band of no-doubt heavily armed reprobates arrives," Spider told her. "Until then, all we have to do is wait."

"What? One of your favorites? Nah," she waves a hand. "I'll look after them. Thanks for lending them to me and all."

"No problem. I actually kind of forgot until it was almost curfew," she adds sheepishly. "That's why they were outside the door and all."

"Yeah, I got... sort of sidetracked." She grimaces at the memory of the chat with Chloe at the coffee shop. Not doing that again anytime soon. "So I was expecting to trip over things a lot." Jake pauses and gives Rory a solemn look. "What do you think the odds are that Logan will remember to water my coffee tree?"

"You have a coffee tree?" Rory asks before she thinks about it and realizes that of course Jake has a coffee tree.

She tilts her head, pretending to consider it. "Slim to none, unless you stuck a note to his forehead or something."

"The tv he uses for his playstation, actually. I thought there might be a slim chance he'd read the post-it before he chucked it that way. At least he'll see it."

"True," Rory agrees. "He might. But I don't think he's going to be in a good mood, so I wouldn't count on it."

Jake winces. "I heard when he came home. There be bangings and cursing. What happened?"

"From what I can decipher from what various people have told me, he had some kind of big fight with his ex at the table for Homecoming tickets," Rory says, shrugging. "I mean, I wasn't there and I haven't talked to him yet, so that's just hearsay."

"Ah. Yeah, that would fit with the sounds at least." She spots Krycek arriving and her face lights up without her knowledge. "Um, thanks again for the shoes, yeah? Gotta go say hi to Krycek. Good luck on the trip and all."

"You too," Rory says, smiling and walking off herself.
