Fandom Invasions Class #7 (Thursday period 3)

When the students filed into the Danger Shop they found two young girls standing with John in the usual lecture spot.

"Hi," the older one said, bouncing a little on her toes. "I'm Susannah Lynn and this is my half-sister Grace. Dad asked us to help him with this class since it's all about us.

"See, there was this big swirling thing, a..... vortex?" She looked up at John for confirmation of the word, grinning when he nodded and then continuing. "And a bunch of us kids got pulled through it and came to Fandom and got to meet our parents before they were our parents. It was really freaky and a little scary, but it was also a lot of fun." She giggled. "Seeing everybody's face when they realised we were their kids was really really funny.

"It was so much fun, that Dad decided that you should get a chance to play too! Isn't that great?" She turned and looked up at John again. "This is where you take over, right?"

John smiled and nodded. "It is. Thanks, Susannah." He addressed the class. "Fandom is always throwing the unexpected at you. And sometimes that isn't a hostile invasion. Sometimes it's the next generation. The object this class isn't to fight the invaders, but look after them. Keep them amused, fed, make sure they go to bed on time... you know. Be parents. And then make sure they get back to where they're supposed to be."

Grace pulled on John's pantleg. "Daddy? I wanna colour!"

John picked her up and smiled wryly at the class. "Sometimes it's easier to just beat something up."

[ooc: wait for ocd is up! Have at it.]

Marco suddenly understood why exactly people drink. "I don't think the ducks in the pond are clean enough for you to eat." He pointed out, refusing to process anything else, but a quick ruffly through his pockets produced a few crumbled crackers.

Danny, showing all of his six years of courtesy, yipped with glee and takes a handful of the messy crackers. He powdered them in a tiny fist and tossed the crumbs into the air, leaving about half as much in everyone's hair and clothes as for the ducks.
"COOKIE RAIN!"

Marco wondered if this was why his parents had stopped at one child as he brushed crumbs out of his hair. "Uh...kid? Don't run into the lake or anything okay? Or kill the ducks...Or me..."

Yet another pout. Maybe the kid's bipolar or something. "I'm not stupid, I'm not gonna run into the lake. And I won't kill the ducks because they're not dragons." He did, however, make it a point to chase the poor creatures around, trying to catch the tails of one or two underfoot. After some minutes, he glanced back to Marco, as if remembering something. "Daaaaaaddyyyy, you said you'd play with me!"

Compared to his parents? That would make him almost sane. "I am playing." Marco said weakly, glad this was only for a period.

"No you're nooooot." Danny flapped his arms. "You're supposed to let me guess the duck!" he said, as if it was supposed to mean something. Without checking for a response, he closed his eyes. "One, two, three..."

Marco really, really hoped that he was misunderstanding and turned to one of the neighbor ducks. "Can you like, go and quack intelligently?" "Quack."

"Quack into what?" he asked. "--four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!" He opened his eyes, looking among the ducks excitedly before he noticed "Daddy" still standing right there. He planted his hands on his hips and tapped his foot impatiently, a pose clearly learned.

Marco groaned. "Okay, uh, kid? I uh ... can't do the duck thing today, you uh...hey, want to go get ice cream?" It worked on him...

Marco nodded. "Uh huh...ice cream." He led the way (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1570038.html?thread=96184566#t96184566)
