Fandom Invasions Class #7 (Thursday period 3)

When the students filed into the Danger Shop they found two young girls standing with John in the usual lecture spot.

"Hi," the older one said, bouncing a little on her toes. "I'm Susannah Lynn and this is my half-sister Grace. Dad asked us to help him with this class since it's all about us.

"See, there was this big swirling thing, a..... vortex?" She looked up at John for confirmation of the word, grinning when he nodded and then continuing. "And a bunch of us kids got pulled through it and came to Fandom and got to meet our parents before they were our parents. It was really freaky and a little scary, but it was also a lot of fun." She giggled. "Seeing everybody's face when they realised we were their kids was really really funny.

"It was so much fun, that Dad decided that you should get a chance to play too! Isn't that great?" She turned and looked up at John again. "This is where you take over, right?"

John smiled and nodded. "It is. Thanks, Susannah." He addressed the class. "Fandom is always throwing the unexpected at you. And sometimes that isn't a hostile invasion. Sometimes it's the next generation. The object this class isn't to fight the invaders, but look after them. Keep them amused, fed, make sure they go to bed on time... you know. Be parents. And then make sure they get back to where they're supposed to be."

Grace pulled on John's pantleg. "Daddy? I wanna colour!"

John picked her up and smiled wryly at the class. "Sometimes it's easier to just beat something up."

"Can't we trick him?" Lilly suggested. She really was the product of her parents.

"What, like pretend you're asleep or something?" Dick said. "That might work."

Lilly grinned. She totally had her daddy wrapped around her finger. "And then can we watch the rest of our movie?"

Dick shrugged. "I don't see why not."

Thankfully Lilly had one responsible parent.

"Okay," Lilly said, climbing into the bed and laying her head down. "You gotta tuck me in! And tell me the bed time story."

Dick smiled and went over to tuck Lilly in. He felt he didn't do a half bad job considering it was his first time. He sat down on the edge of the bed.

Now a story. Huh. Dick didn't really think Lilly was the Cinderella type of girl. "What kind of story do you want to hear?"

Lilly gave him a 'duh' look again. "My special bedtime story," she told him.

"Yeeeah. I'm gonna need more info on that special bedtime story." he said. "Is it the plot of a Arnold Schwarzenegger movie?" Cause that he could do.

"It's about the girl who grows up to be a champion surfer in Australia," Lilly reminded him.

"Oh right. How could I forget?" Dick said. "This version might be a bit different than the one I usually tell cause um...I'm feeling creative."

"So, um, there was this chick named Lilly and she lived in Australia with her mom and dad. And Lilly was a surfer, a good one. Her awesome dad taught her everything she knows. Her mom was cool too but kind of persnickity and that sometimes annoyed Lilly's awesome dad but they got along anyways cause they loved their kid." Dick said. "Then one day Lilly's Uncle Logan told her about this big surf competition and she wanted to win really bad. So she started to train a lot. She trained with her awesome dad and her Uncle Logan. She didn't train with her mom because she was a crap surfer but her mom did make her Snickerdoodles all the time and that was cool. Lilly became the awesomest surfer ever. On the day of the competition Lilly kicked everyones ass. She totally won a medal made of diamonds. And she also beat up a shark with her bare hands. It was really badass."

"The end." he said with a smirk. He thought it was a good story.

"See, you did just fine, Daddy," Lilly told him proudly.

"Thanks, sweetheart." Dick said, smiling. "Now pretend to be asleep. Or if you're really feeling sleepy then you can really sleep. I won't stop you."

Lilly gave him another look. "I can pretend real good," she said, screwing her eyes shut.

Dick grinned and chuckled a little. "That's great. You might want to throw in some snoring."

Lilly's eyes flew open. "Daddy! Ladies do not snore."

"Since when are you a lady?" Dick joked.

"I have to pretend," Lilly said. "Mommy's rules."

"I see." Dick said. "Well, Mommy's not here right now. And being a lady is overrated anyways."

He had a point. Lilly screwed her eyes shut again and started with some very fake snoring.

Dick laughed again and went to poke her in the ribs. "Hmm, is she really asleep? Surely if she was asleep this wouldn't tickle her in the slightest."

Lilly totally wasn't giggling. Not one bit. The bed was shaking because of her snoring, not her giggles. Really.

"Was that giggling I heard?" Dick went to tickle her some more.

"No, Daddy," she protested through her giggles.

"Sleeping people don't talk!" Dick said.

"They do if they talk in their sleep!"
