The Library; Wednesday [ 10/24 ]

Worrying slightly that her dependence on tea might be getting a little extreme as she chose clutching onto her cup over putting some of the books away, Adah came in to open the library with a man named Lao-tzu whispering in her ear. He took upon the image of Tata Kuvudundu, only pale, with two long strands of a mustache over his chest. Still with the six toes, whispering in ashes on the floor. What the caterpillar calls the end, the rest of the world calls a butterfly.

Adah is still puzzling a little bit over Taoism. Some of it made sense, some of it seemed ridiculous, and others seemed impossibly confident. He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still? How could anyone have true control over anyone else if their own self is unruly and misbehaved under his hand? True control. You could never have something like that with yourself...Or maybe she was missing the point.

To cement in the fact that Adah was officially done with Taoism and just as convinced as ever that any philosophy other than the bent philosophy of Ada in all its slashing colors and backwards letter simply made her head hurt.

After considering that more culture study for her Japanese would lead to more Eastern theology, Adah has decided firmly to stick to going over verbs.

Adah has her lunch at her desk as usual, an orange today, and some cold cuts in a small plastic bag. The fact that the inside of the oranges here are not red (nor as delicious as the red ones) and the existence of plastic bags still sort of fascinates her.

Since she had dried up on Taoism, Adah's actually limping around the shelves putting things away.

Wondering how they days got so long for her, Adah realized she was itching a little to see what was done to the room better once she was finished at the library.

She was also, idly, in her spare time, trying to think of suggestions for what they could name the baby to east the E Ive with later.

As usual, posting it now because. Sleep now, but around all day Wednesday, whee!

After his one and only class and spending some time wandering around the grounds, Lee, of course, had to stop by the library. It was Wednesday, after all.

With his bag slung over his shoulder, he walked over, smiling already and said, "Hi there."

And, wouldn't you know it, there Adah was with a pen already in her hand. She glanced up at the Eel with a light smile before flipping a few pages away from the palindrome nomenclature of unholy time befuddled offspring to a new, clean sheet.

"You're just about as predicable as the moon," she wrote. "Also: hi."

"In this instance, I like being predictable," he said and grinned. "Were you expecting me?"

After a moment of considering her answer with a calculating grin back up at him, Adah wrote, "I wouldn't say that the notion of your visit had kept me particularly preoccupied, but your arrival, as it is a Wednesday, had been taken as a constant. Also, in retrospect, I realize that I would have been put out and disorientated if you had decided to break the expected trend."

"And that wouldn't have been good for either of us," Lee said in reply to her words, leaning elbows and arms on the desk. "How are you? You're smiling already."

As he leaned forward on his elbows, so did Adah, although her lean was more of a lowered tilt of her head to peer over at him for a second through hair and eyelashes, for a seemingly judging, almost coy moment before drawing away slightly to write again.

"Of course I am. It is the end of the day here and my room has been redone. I'm eager to get the chance to get a better look at the work."

He kept grinning and leaned a little closer, almost on his tip toes. "What happened in your room? Redecorate?"

Adah's grin sharpened a little; it was cute when he leaned so much and, besides, it made things easier for her. "A friend of my roommate," she explained, "has taken to painting it yesterday. I haven't gotten much of a chance to get a good look at his work yet. Considering I'll be living in it, I can only hope it's satisfactory."

"I didn't know we could paint our rooms," Lee said thoughtfully before teasing, "I liked your room before. I'm sure it'll be fine after. If not, you can always take refuge in my room. I have books."

Adah wasn't entirely sure the question of whether or not he was allowed to would exactly ever enter the artist kid's head, but there were other things more interesting at hand. Like the Eel's offer, which caused an eyebrow to quirk. And if there were books...

"But there are stairs as well," she pointed out.

"There are," he said, nodding. "But, you haven't seen my room yet. And I'd be there which, yeah, not as good as the books," he said, keeping up the teasing tone, "but still something."

Well, at least he had a good sense of priority, that Eel. "I suppose that would have to be the difference," she wrote, "as the library has books, too, as well as comfortable chairs."

"I'm flattered to be the difference maker for you," he said and fluttered his eyelashes very extravagantly at her before using his hand to give a very stupid almost beauty pageant like wave.

Why, yes, that would be an eyeroll, also quite extravagant, but there was also a smirk threatening to break free of containment.

"Very nice," she complimented onto her paper. "Is that also something you've picked up from your modeling class?"

"Amongst other things," he said and smirked. "And thank you, I thought you'd like that, enjoyer of modeling that you are."

And then, adopting a very mock serious tone, he said, "Modeling is a very deep class, you know. So much of my intellect is poured into that class."

Despite herself, Adah's head ducked slightly in a failed attempt to hide a chuckle. She bit her lip, looking up slightly.

"Oh, yes. I'm quite sure an intellect even as expansive as yours is completely exhausted by the end of such a deep and stimulating topic. And here I am, feeling that the theoretical and realistic applications of Chinese Taoism is exhausting. I'd never be able to handle modeling; you are quite the admirable man for your dedication to the subject."

"I know, I know," he said and made a show of buffing his nails on his shirt. "I could teach you, oh young one. An apprentice, of sorts. Learn all things modeling and the wiser you will be."

After all that, he made a face at himself.

"Damn, I sound like a pretentious idiot."

Adah laughed quietly, just breaths, although the mirth was certainly not as contained as her voice, and promptly gave a very affirming series of nods. Yes. Yes, he did. But he was an amusing pretentious idiot.
