fandomhigh | Keeping Your Wits About You... [Monday 2nd Period 10-11] Class # 6 Danger Room!

Sometime over the hectic weekend the students had been ~~handwavey~~ instructed to come to the Danger Room on Monday. Set up in a sort of 'waiting room' there was a spread of classic English tea sandwiches laid out today along with the usual coffee, tea and water.

Wilson was looking a bit amused as he sat in an overstuffed chair and sipped on his coffee.

As soon as everyone had gathered into the Danger Room, Wilson stood up and walked towards an unassuming little door.

"Good morning."

"I hope everybody had a wonderful Homecoming, it seemed to be a lovely weekend and I know I had a good time saying hello to some old friends."

Crossing his arms and his ankles, he grinned at the class.

"Well, today we have a guest speaker, sort of. Actually he's going to be a guest Adversary for you all. Today's lesson is about how you handle a situation when you know you're going to lose the battle but you need to win the war. Only not with a real war or battle mind you, because that would be mean."

Reaching over for his coffee, he took a sip and then set it back down.

"One by one, you'll go through that door, sit down and engage the Adversary in a game of checkers. Now, were you to win the game of checkers, you would get a rather important bit of information without hassle. However, since that's not the object of the exercise, I'll tell you now that actually winning the game of checkers is about one million to one odds against you. So, how else can you come up with to get the information you will want from this man? Uh and let me say right here and now, I do not suggest or encourage or even condone a violent approach. This is about your wits, not the size of your fists."

Grinning at the class, Wilson reached for a clipboard.

"Okay, you'll go in as I read off your names. Oh! I almost forgot. The bit of information. The Adversary knows the essay question that makes up your Midterm. Yes, your Midterm will be one, very detailed essay question. If you get the question from him, you'll have a leg up on know what you need to study and being able to start early on the particular points you want to put in your essay to help get the best grade possible with the least amount of stress to you. So, good luck."

With that, he began to read off the list of names.

Well, this was going to be interesting. Wyatt wondered if by "adversary" Wilson was being literal and referring to his boyfriend. Or one of them, at least. He stepped through the door to take his seat.

"Mr. Halliwell," Lucifer greeted him, a perfectly polite and pleasant smile on his face.

"So, how do you prefer to be addressed?" Wyatt asked casually.

"Whatever you wish," Lucifer replied. "It is of no concern to me."

As long as it was respectful, of course.

"Good," Wyatt said, stretching his legs. "Because 'my lord Satan' would be right out. No offense."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow. "I should hope. I am no one's lord at this point."

"Are you retired?" Wyatt asked curiously. "Can you do that?"

"It would appear so," Lucifer replied. "It was not as if I asked for permission."

Wyatt glanced down at the board. "So who goes first?" he said. "I haven't played this since I was a kid. Or should we just skip the game because it's pointless?"

"Oh, but Mr. Halliwell, we're already playing."

"Okay," Wyatt said. "Then do you mind if I ask you a question?"

"I would not say no to a question," Lucifer said, leaning back in his seat.

"Is it really necessarily evil to not do what God tells you to do?" Wyatt said, thinking about how the Elders had almost let his mother die. "Or to do what he tells you not to do?"

Lucifer cocked his head to the side. "Evil is a very interesting term to use, Mr. Halliwell."

"Well, that's how you're portrayed," Wyatt pointed out. "Prince of Lies and all that. Though if that's true, you won't tell me the truth anyway."

"You have heard of propaganda, yes?"

"Yes," Wyatt said. "So you're saying you got a bum rap?"

"Not entirely," Lucifer replied with a smirk. "My reputation is well earned, but must say that I do find lies distasteful."

"Interesting," Wyatt said. "I only ask because the people who I'm supposed to obey, who I guess report to God, may want me to do things I don't want to do. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to tell them to go frak themselves. So I was wondering if I was going to get smited or something."

Lucifer couldn't help but chuckle. "He has a very hands off approach to your kind these days. Those who claim to work in his service are no more practicing his will than demons do in mine."

"Good to know," Wyatt said, smiling a little. "Seeing I may have a career as a renegade angel ahead of me."

"Angel?" Lucifer asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"My dad was a whitelighter," Wyatt explained. "It's a kind of angel where I come from."

Lucifer simply hummed thoughtfully and gave Wyatt a slightly curious look. He certainly did not appear like any angel from where he was from.

Wyatt shrugged at the look. "Wings didn't come with the package, I guess," he said.
