Basic Japanese - Wednesday October 2nd- 3rd period
Yondaime breathed a sigh of relief as he came into the class and pulled out a new packet from the several anti-fox bags as he started to pass them out to the class, once they were all there.
"Well as you can see we’ve actually got new packets today," he smiled proudly. "And even though it’s a little late we’ll be covering likes, dislikes, places and some verbs."
He gave everyone a chance to look over the packet before really starting the lecture. “The verbs that are in the packet are present tense verbs and for now that’s all that we’re going to be dealing with. If you look in your packet you’ll see that there are two basic sentence patterns that we’re dealing with. One for what time you are doing something you want to make sure that you use the particle ‘ni’. This denotes that it is a time that you’re using. ‘watashi ga asa ni okimasu’. I wake up in the morning. The other is when you’re doing something with an object like watching television. terebi o mimasu.
"Now you can step it up by adding where you are doing these things with the particle 'e' which is written 'heh' ore 'deh'. I go to school. gakkou e ikimasu or terebi de heya ni mimasu I watch T.V. in the room."
Yondaime paused as he saw Deadpool walk in and raised an eyebrow at his husband, but continued with his lecture. "Finally we have likes and dislikes. One note that I want to make about pronounciation. It is not pronounced 'suki' but 'ski', with a few exceptions the 'u' in 'su' is silent. So if you can, no more 'desu' but 'dess'. Wakarimasu ka?"
He paused a moment to watch Deadpool walk towards the back of the class and start to make faces before he continued, ignoring him still. For now. "There are different levels of like, and of course there are different levels of dislike. Suki and kirai you just like or dislike, but by adding 'dai', which means big, makes it so that you really like or really hate." Yondaime paused with a smirk. "Though, yes you are saying 'big like' but don't think of it that way. Usually these terms can be used for nouns, but they can also be for people," he glanced up at Deadpool. "Even though the real word for love is 'ai'. If Deadpool will stop making faces and come up here I can show you a few sentences using the like and dislike words. Deadpool?" He grinned.
Deadpool looked as innocent as possible when your face was covered in a mask and you carried weapons around all the time. Oh, and that totally guilty thing.
It didn't work very well. Surprise, surprise.
"Fine, but I won't be held responsible for any poorly said thing. My Japanese is horrible. And I feel like I need to wear a sumo diaper when I speak it. Or be drinking sake." He looked around the classroom hopefully. "Do we have any around here?"
"Nope," Yondaime smirked and crossed his arms and he leaned against his desk. "Buki wa suki desu ka?"
Deadpool stuck his tongue out, looking very much like one of the students. If they were much more immature.
"Un," He replied with a short nod.
He rolled his eyes and faced the class. "That is the very informal way of saying yes. I'd prefer if you all used. 'hai, suki desu' for now until we start to work on slang." Yondaime explained and covertly elbowed his husband in the ribs. "Moving on," he looked back at Deadpool with a playful look. "Deadpool-san wa donna tabemono ga suki desu ka?
Pouting at the hit, Deadpool sighed, thinking over the question. "Beeru," He said after a small pause, nodding and smirking at the answer. What? It was true!
Yondaime sighed and hid his face with his hand a moment. "I guess beer does technically count as food. How about you all go off of the examples in the packet. Work in pairs or groups to ask each other the questions, talk about the things that you like and about what you do in a day."
