Shop, Period 5 Week 5
Tim bounded into the shop full of pep. "Hey, this week we're going to be dealing with drywall. Sheetrock. Gypsum board. Heh, think they call it that because it's made with real gypsies?" Crickets. Lots of them.
"Today's project involves installing drywall. It's easy to hang. And like everything else, people only complain when it's not well hung," he said with a bit of a chuckle. The crickets were forming a union now, appointing a rep to stop him before he puns again.
"Easiest way to cover a wall is with paneling," he said, turning a display around. It was covered with tacky wood paneling. "But this is ugly, and only worked during the 70s. Drywall is paintable, easy to put up quickly, and fairly cheap in terms of labor and materials, and replaces lath boards which takes a while to dry enough to paint."
"The tools you'll need will be the drywall sheets, mud compound, tape, mudding knife, utilty knife to score for breaks, keyhole saw, and goggles and mask," he said after explaining how to properly do drywall. He had hit his thumb with the hammer demonstrating how to nail it in place, and his modified Binford 6100 Drywall Driver had countersunk the drywall screws so far into the studs that they poked out the other side.
"Also? For extra credit, someone can help me get my kegerator into my office."
[OCD coming. Mun is tired, will update with links depending on how crazy work is]
