fandomhigh | Prophecy in Theory and Practice, Class Five, Tuesday (10/02)

It wouldn't have been Aziraphale's class if there were no breakfast pastries and pots of tea and coffee on the table in the center of the room. Since it was Aziraphale's class, those items were conveniently available for the students to enjoy.

The teacher himself had just finished setting up a display of scrying implements, and turned to the class once everyone was seated.

"As you can see, today's exercise will be in chrystallomancy, or crystal gazing. Before we begin the exercise, however, I want to give you a brief lecture on dream interpretation. You may think it odd that the lecture would focus on dreams while the exercise covers scrying, but really the two are very similar. The same sorts of symbolism you're going to encounter in your dreams is also very often present in chrystallomancy as well."

Aziraphale proceeded to give his lecture on dream interpretation, and gave each student several different handouts and a blank journal.

"Your homework for is to keep a dream journal for the next week. One of your handouts has some good pointers on methods for keeping them. When you come to the next class, I'd like you to bring a written interpretation of one of the dreams from your journal. Now, we'll move on to today's class exercise."

He gave a short talk on the basics of chrystallomancy, and then said, "Now, pair up and choose a crystal or scrying mirror to work with, and do a reading for your partner. Also, please don't forget to turn in your homework assignment from last week."

Chris was feeling a little less flaily than he had been yesterday.

"Hey, Chris! Dare I ask how your weekend was?"

"I thought my roommate was my girlfriend and a guy I can't stand was my brother," Chris said, rubbing his temples. "You?"

"I was doing great with the whole not knowing who I was thing till I convinced myself I was an evil wizard. Then I got my wrists broken." Andrew flexed the wrist in question. "Then a real wizard made it all better. Magic is so cool."

"Who healed you?" Chris asked, mostly out of curiosity since he knew his brother could heal and that he had the potential to do so. "And how did you end up thinking you were an evil wizard?"

"Ronan, in the clinic. Healed me right up. It was cool, he jabbed himself with a needle and then suddenly all my pain was gone."

Andrew was a little uncomfortable with the last question. "I'm not sure how I came to that conclusion," he lied, laughing uncomfortably. "I think it was because of something I read in my notes."

That or the fact that he seemed to have nothing but notebook after notebook on summoning demons, demon rituals, dark methods of demon control, and the like.

"Well, at least it isn't true," Chris said. "Right?"

Not that he expected Andrew to confess if he really was, but it never hurt to ask.

"Oh, yeah. Not true. Soooo not true."

Quickly changing the subject, Andrew asked, "So, um, this guy you can't stand, did thinking he was your brother change that at all?"

Chris considered that. "I dunno. Maybe a little? We actually talked yesterday in class. But I don't think we'll ever really be pals or anything."

"That makes sense. I'm just glad I didn't mess up anything like horribly badly, you know? Luckily, Neil came and found me pretty quickly after he realized things were going amiss. He didn't loose his memory, so he was able to set me straight on some things."

Which made his thinking he was an evil wizard all the more ludicrous.

"Oh, that's good. Neil's a good guy. We were cabinmates over the summer," Chris said, completely oblivious to the fact that Andrew and Neil were more than friends.

"And, yeah, Summer and I slept in the same bed and we kissed a few times, but we didn't do anything that her boyfriend will want to hurt me over." Chris bit his lip. "At least I hope not."

"Neil's a great guy," Andrew readily agreed, grinning ear to ear.

"I'm sure her boyfriend will be understanding. I mean, Fandom weirdness, it's like a free pass, right?"

[ooc: AFK for a few. Woe meetings!]

Chris nodded. "I hope so," he said. "I mean, he didn't flip out too bad when our alternate universe potential future son showed up. At least, not that I know of."

Andrew laughed. He had heard about that particular phenomenon from a few people now. It was just absurd enough to be likely at Fandom.

"Are you in a relationship," Andrew asked, totally being nosy.

"No," Chris said, a tiny bit wistfully. "I can't seem to get past three dates with a girl."

"Really?" The disbelief was pretty evident in Andrew's voice. "But you're so..." Best to not finish that statement. "... Nice!"

Chris smiled. "I think that whole saying about nice guys finishing last is true. At least around here. One girl was dating me and my brother, one girl had to go back to England and one girl decided to date Johnny Storm instead of me."

"There's something to be said about that bad-boy image," Andrew agreed. "That's kind of why I thought I had to be evil this weekend. I mean, look at me. It was the only way I could justify why Neil was interested in me. He's all awesome and cute and I'm all scrawny and me-ish."

It felt silly to admit that now.

"Wait. You and Neil are... you know... together?" Chris asked, totally oblivious and confused. "I didn't know that."

Andrew felt a momentary flutter of panic. He wondered if maybe he should be keeping this on the down-low, but Chris seemed like a good guy, so...

"Yeah, I know! Crazy, right? I mean, I don't know that we're official or anything. But we're dating. I think. Well, we are."

This was Andrew trying to talk about his relationship.

Chris smiled. "That's cool. Good luck."

"Thanks," Andrew said, smiling back. "Oh, and if you still want to stop by sometime and check out some of my books, I'm free most evenings this week."

Andrew felt bad about not calling him about it yet.

"Sure!" Chris said. "I was sick all last week ~~like my player~~, but I'm feeling better now. Maybe I'll stop by tomorrow?"
