Detention: Saturday, September 29

It was early. It was Saturday. What was he doing lying on the floor? Wait, why was he on the floor of a room in what appeared to be a school? An even better question, who was he?

He looked around the strange classroom. Huh, maybe he was a teacher. Scratch that, he was the BEST TEACHER EVER. Probably the PRINCIPAL! Oh, the principal! Yes, he was the principal, and he needed an office and a proper name to go with his role. But first there was the problem of the paper crumpled in his hand. It mentioned a Danger Room and a list of students he was to detain there all day.

Ed Elric
Karal Austreben
River Tam
Jamie Madrox
Naomi Wildman
Abigail Whistler

Sometime later, Mick Jagger greeted the student cheerfully, as a principal does, and booted up an old game he found lying around. And yes, Mick was an awesome name, that's why he'd chose it.

~~~
Once students sign in, they'll discover they've become part of a man hunt for one Consuela Sanfrancisco. (Ping directly to Round 1 if you don't have Mick questions.) Their task, to find her before she escapes the planet. Start off in North America. Ping in to receive the first clue. Respond with a guess and receive the second clue. After two failed answers, students will receive three choices to guess from along with additional clues. There are five total clues for each round. Well, fewer for lunch.
[ooc: WAIT FOR IT! PLAY BALL! This detention made possible by the letter N (which has worn off my 6 month old keyboard) and [livejournal.com profile] fat_halpert who is far crackier than I ever could hope to be. *steals from him openly* Questions, comments, hit me on IM: suitofawesome or ltcolkirk314]
[ETA: Barney is totally dressed like the The Chief Feel free to mock him later.]
"I'm River?" The revelation distracted her from the fact that he seemed cautious about the cookies. Perhaps it was a stomach issue.
She looked excited, the knowledge of her name - assuming he was right - a step forward, but then she frowned. "I was thinking perhaps I was nobody."
Oh dear. Molly, Barney, now River. It was clearly an epidemic. "Your name is River, and you are most certainly not nobody. You are a student at this school," he explained carefully, trying hard to think about everything he knew about River and lay it all out neatly for her in his mind. "And this is detention. Did you awake this morning not knowing who you were?"
"Yes," she said. "Not just me then?" She tried to grasp the image of herself that she suddenly sensed from his mind. She lowered her voice. "You know about the thoughts then?" She waved a hand in the air. "Noisy."
She nodded towards the book that she clasped to her chest. "Found this. Marked pages. I believe it contains clues to my idenity. But now you've given me another perspective." She smiled again, clearly pleased with that.
"My apologies for the noise," he said, trying to pull his mental hand back to himself. It gave him a tiny headache, but he didn't mind. "And not just you. This place, strange things happen and then they unhappen, but your name is River," he said firmly.
"Oh, not you," River replied. "You're a quiet person." She opened the book and showed him a page. "This is marked. Thought it might be important."
I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us -- don't tell!
They'd advertise -- you know!
How dreary to be somebody!
How public like a frog
To tell one's name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!
Karal smiled as he read it. "It is evocative. I'm sorry I don't know you well enough to know if it speaks to who you are, but I do know that you are not alone in having misplaced yourself."
She smiled again. "Not alone. I assume that's good."
"It always good to know you are not alone. And from everything I have seen, these bouts of strangeness pass in their own time." He had learned that from Jack, and it was a comfort.
She nodded, her thoughts drifting off in various directions, examining possibilities of who she might be. "I think my name suits me," she said finally. "What's yours?"
He blinked, then flushed. "My apologies. My name is Karal Austreben. We have met a few times in the common rooms, and you have fed my horse, Trenor, apples. He likes you."
"I'm sure I like him," River replied. The idea of feeding a horse apples made her smile. "I think I like apples too. I found five of them in my bag, with the cookies."
"I believe you might be right!" Karal hesitated, then tentatively asked, "You wouldn't have any of those apples now, would you? I hate to ask, but I think the cookies will not sit well with me."
She quickly dug an apple out of her bag and placed it in front of him. "Stomach problems?" she asked with a concerned look.
"I'm afraid I made myself a bit ill. Nothing to worry over, but I need to be careful what I eat," he explained as he set the cookies down and picked up the apple. "Thank you very much."
River nodded and started chewing on one of the cookies.
Karal was happy to sit in companionable silence while he nibbled at his apple.
