Harriet was beaming as she walked out on stage. "Good afternoon. I'm Harriet Jones, Dean of Students."

Before she could continue, there was a heckling from the back of the auditorium, sounding not unlike a certain flame haired god of the dead. "Yes, we know who you are!"

Harriet fixed the back of the room with a look. "If I could continue, please?" There was silence. "Thank you. Now, there's been a recurring problem with gremlins at this school, so in the interests of educating you about this potential danger, we've arranged for some people to speak here this afternoon. I urge you to give them your attention, and don't be afraid to ask question. After they finish, of course."

"That's always a good thing," Isabel agreed. "I'll have to give you the list of nearby vendors I've worked with over the last two years. It'll be useful if you find you need a gondola."

"Oh, were you on student council before?" Meg asked.

"Yeah, I was a rep my sophomore and my junior year," she explained. "I would have run this year but something came up and I had to go back to Roswell for a week so I missed out."

"Aw." Meg said, giving her a sympathetic look. "Well, you can still help out with stuff. I'm sure we can use all the help we can get."

"I'd love to. I like being involved and keeping busy like that." Isabel grinnned, "Although I should warn you, I get a bit OCD."

"Oh, me too." Meg said. "The more OCD the better as far as I'm concerned."

A fellow organizer, Isabel was thrilled. "To quote an old movie, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship..."

Meg laughed. "I agree. With our OCD powers put together this year will be the most organized school year ever."

"Hopefully. But it is Fandom. Always be prepared for weirdness. Although," she admitted, "I've been pretty lucky and everything I've organized has always gone smoothly. Still, I was half afraid gremlins were going to invade prom."

"Hopefully this speak will have good tips on how to get rid of gremlins." Meg said. "Or at least keep them at bay long enough to get through Homecoming."

"Cricket bats," Isabel told her. "It worked for Zero. Or baseball bats. Maybe they can be mounted under the tables to be pulled out if necessary?"

"Maybe organize a gremlin bashing brigade?" Meg said. "For those people who are sad about not having a date to get their frustrations out."

"That's always an option," she nodded. "And speaking of the dateless. Has anyone filled you in on the fine tradition of the snark corner?"

"Not yet." she said. "But I like the sound of it so far."

"Peter Parker and I came up with the idea for the Valentine's Dance two years ago," Isabel explained. "It gave all the single people a place to congregate and mock the happy couples. We've had one at just about every dance since."

"That might be the greatest idea I've ever heard." Meg said, grinning. "That makes going stag so much more fun!"

"Exactly," she agreed. "God knows I spent enough time there. But keep in mind, the Snark Corner is not to be confused with the Dark Corner. I don't need to tell you what that's for do I?"

"I think I've got the idea of the Dark Corner." she said, smiling. "It'd be hard to get those confused."

"Well, that depends if you hit the punch bowl before or after the spiking," Isabel pointed out. "I'm not sure how it happens. I think gremlins might be involved myself. But at every event, somehow the punch bowl gets spiked. So after the first hour? If you don't want to drink, stick to bottled water."

"Oh, I've learned that lesson in Neptune." Meg said. "Though there it's not so much gremlins as it is Dick."

"You know? For some reason? That does not surprise me," she laughed. "Personally I can't wait for Homecoming. My best friend is coming back. I haven't seen her since July."

"Aw, that's nice. I'm looking forward to meeting the alumni." she said. "It'll prove to me that you can achieve normalcy after going to school here."

"Parker's perfectly normal. Although I will admit, she said she did have a hard time the first few weeks when she left here," Isabel said. "Which I can totally relate to. I just spent a week in Roswell and it was strange."

"At least we don't have to worry about gremlins outside of Fandom." Meg said. "Unless they migrate or something."

Isabel blinked for a moment or two. "What scares me is that I have this perfectly clear image of an army or gremlins marching across the causeway as the guy from Wild Kingdom narrates. See the wild gremlin as it marches off on it's yearly quest for greener pastures..."
