School Assembly, Friday Afternoon

Harriet was beaming as she walked out on stage. "Good afternoon. I'm Harriet Jones, Dean of Students."

Before she could continue, there was a heckling from the back of the auditorium, sounding not unlike a certain flame haired god of the dead. "Yes, we know who you are!"

Harriet fixed the back of the room with a look. "If I could continue, please?" There was silence. "Thank you. Now, there's been a recurring problem with gremlins at this school, so in the interests of educating you about this potential danger, we've arranged for some people to speak here this afternoon. I urge you to give them your attention, and don't be afraid to ask question. After they finish, of course."

Instructions (cause I was tired when I OCD'd and it kinda got away from me...): Speaker, please ping into the space for your talk, then ping into the ask questions thread when you're ready to answer questions. Rikku bounced up to the stage and waved. "Uh, hiya! Okay, I've never been bitten or whatever? But other people have and it's really awesome. I mean. It's kinda humiliating or embarrassing or whatever? But then, lots of stuff around here is. Like the weekend we were all our own evil twins, right? Okay. So. Everybody looks stupid now and again, and it keeps us all on our toes. And when someone's suddenly crazy, you have to go, gosh, is my little sibling his own evil twin, or doing performance art, or is does he really think that droid is a tiger?" Her eyes widened. "Hypothetically speaking, I mean, not that Gavin would do anything like that. Hi, Gavin!"

"Uh. But. You know. Last year someone completely, uh, unrelated got bit by a gremlin and there was a droid there, too - different droid! - and video of the incident ended up as part of a film festival and I think was acclaimed pretty highly and the droid might now have new opportunities ahead of him as a director and that's pretty amazing, isn't it? I mean. That's pretty great for the arts and for all of us getting to experience it, not just when it happens, but also on videotape for later, not that anyone wanted copies just to laugh at - the people who might have hypothetically been involved. Uh. Yeah. But see? The, uh, future of ... our children or something like that depends on it, right?"

"So I say we keep the gremlins. And lastly, uh, if you ever get into a conversation with a gremlin-zapped person and they offer to bounce a quarter off someone else's ... um ... body? Just say no. Thank you! Any questions?"

Billy took the stage, not sure how he'd got roped into this. But what the heck. "Last year I was bitten by a Gremlin, and spent the next few hours as Andy Kaufman. If you don't know who that is, look it up.

"And really, aside from freaking out my girlfriend at the time, it was pretty fun. Liberating in a way. It's not something I'd want to do again, but if you have a sense of humor, I don't see the big deal."
