Trust Speeches
Everyone, this is Lee. He's coming to us from my other section. Everyone make him welcome.
((ooc:and just for Lee, a new icon))
Now, for everybody BUT Lee, who gets a pass for being new, you should have a 3 to 5 minute speech persuading me to trust you. Go.
***********************************************
301--Trust Games
*Again, the room is empty and darkened, a smallish (6x6) square is on the floor.*
Ok, gang, this is a really common trust game, and once again I will excuse people if they can give me a *yawn* valid excuse. I'm not going to force anyone to do anything they don't want to do. Never discount your free will and your ability to make the personal political.
Ok, I've cleared the floor. I'd like everyone to get in that square, everyone as close as possible. *yawn*
This is an excellent exercise to do in an elevator. You must stand, you can't leave, and you must negotiate your space and conditions of your comfort zone. People often crack when trapped in a small space with others *yawn* so this will build trust amongst you for the next time you all have to work together.
*She goes and sits at her deskand rests her chin on her palm. After watching for about ten minutes, her eyelids begin to droop and she falls asleep sitting up*

*D'anna steps to the front of the room, and greets her fellow students with a grin. She then gives a speech on how the only things safe to consume in this school are those you bring in yourself, or Professor Jerusalem's cappuccino. Her selling point for the coffee is that no one has yet changed color, burst into song, or fallen over dead after drinking it.*
301
*seriously questions the professors goal, but goes a long with it and steps onto a corner of the square*
Re: 201, 301

*He gives a 4.38 minute speech that lists amongst his better and more trustworthy qualities:*
- natural leadership - led the font lines against the zombie encounter; led several defenses against the Wraith.
- ability to read a situation and act accordingly; even if it means breaking stated rules in order to server the greater good or save a life, but never just for personal gain.
- general friendliness and gregariousness - girls even offer to set up virgins with him. ("Oh, should I not have mentioned that in class?")
- sense of honor and ability to act accordingly even in difficult situations.
Re: 201
Marvelous John, thank you.
*She rolls her eyes when she turns her back*

"People should trust me because I'm up front about what I want. If I want power, I tell you. If I want you to get out of my face, I let you know. I can be trusted because I trust myself, and my own abilities.
I can also be trusted because...."
- goes on to point out that she has all the material things she wants, so it's not like she needs anyone else's
- says that emotionally, she has minimal needs that don't demand much from others, therefore, she has little need to manipulate others for false friendship or security
winds up with:
- "Basically, I can be trusted, because I do want what's best for other people as well as myself. Now granted, I don't always want to be *around* those other people, but I like to think I'm basically benevolent, and therefore unlikely to cause harm. Well, unless you cross me. And hey, I always give fair warning, and allow people who have wronged me to make it up to me.
Directness, security, and benign neglect: you can trust me not to screw you over, because I am an island unto myself."

*Lindsey stands up and gives a speech that says you should trust him, really, because he's a trustworthy kind of guy. After all, he hasn't done anything to make you distrust him, has he?*

Yeah...ok.

You should trust me because *she speaks slowly ticking through reasons in her head and hoping she can strech whatever she comes up with out* I am a very trusting person and trust you and you should trust me because I don't carry weapons or read minds and really have nothing to gain from screwing you oer but more than that I couldn't if I tried and uhm...
