Annette got a bit of everything and took her tray to a table situated near a large window, where she could look outside while she ate.

Once she'd grabbed her seled, Mac spotted Annette at one of the tables and made her way over, settling into a seat opposite.

"Hey, Annette."

"Hi, Mac!" She grinned, greeting her. "Haven't seen you around lately. How's it going?"

Mac shrugged, "Oh, you know, crazy teachers, new roommates, the usual."

She smiled, poking at her salad. "You?"

"Well, you know... the usual," Annette wasn't sure just how much of her life lately Mac has heard about on the radio, so she thought it best not to offer anything extra.

"What classes are you taking?"

Mac, knows nothing, cause her mun has been guilty of neglect, and so just nodded.

"Uh, feminism and communication," she said. "So far the last couple of weeks that's involved being a pirate and insulting people."

Annette would be super glad to know that.

She chuckled. "Insulting people? Is that like homework or class exercises?"

"Class exercize," Mac replied. "Kinda fun, actually, once you get into it."

"What've you had?"

"Yeah, I guess it would be, uh? In a joking sort of way. No one takes it personally?"

"I have Prophecy, Love Smart, and Debate."

"I was only insulting Summer, and vice versa," Mac clarified. "From the way she started giggling halfway through, I'm going to say either she didn't take it personally, or I just suck at being rude to people."

Annette laughed. "Either or would be suitable. Barney Stinson, our Love Smart teacher? He's a little strange. Doesn't believe in relationships yet he's teaching a class on them. Kind of. I just don't get it I don't think."

Mac looked a little puzzled. "He doesn't believe in them?"

"Not real ones I don't think. At least it's what I can gather from him," she shrugged. "Strange man that Barney."

"Sounds it," Mac said. "I'm never going to understand the faculty hiring choices around here."

"Me either but at least some of the classes are fun. I love Debate; getting to argue over a valid point one way or the other."

Mac chuckled. "I can actually see the attraction of that," she said.

"I guess for me, it really depends on the subject, though. Can't debate it unless I actually care."

Annette laughed. "I can. I can debate about anything whether I believe in it or not. But that is for the sake of debate only and does not reflect me personally. In class you could be called to argue the positive or negative depending, and you just have to be ready to do that. I find it... invigorating."

"Useful skill, I guess," Mac said thoughtfully. "... there are things I would definitely prefer, as far as classes go, though."

"Yes," Annette agreed. "So would I. I'm just going to try and do my best even though Love Smart won't exactly benefit my resume."

"I suppose so long as you can sit through it and pass a final..." Mac shrugged. "Does the job."

"I was wondering," Annette said, changing the subject and not sure whether it was an approachable one or not. "Have you heard from Cally at all?"

Mac poked at her salad once more, shaking her head. "Nothing," she said. "I don't think I'm going to."
