Library - Sunday

After yesterday's detention, all Lee really wants to do today sit, read and avoid any needles or robot guts or running. So, he's got a stack of books (randomly selected from the shelves), a bottle of water and a banana.

He hasn't started reading anything yet. Instead, he's scribbling some notes about something he had been reading before starting on anything new.

Ed wandered into the library, his nose half-buried in a book as he made his way over to the library desk.

He made a face. "No, it's basically full of crap."

"Because if I don't then I can't say for sure it's full of crap?" Ed replied.

It probably was. But it helped smudge the fact he was getting nowhere fast.

He shrugged. "I'm hoping that if I can prove all the alchemy books here are full of crap, we can get new ones that aren't?"

There were two choices laid out in front of Adah for today. It was a nice morning, a bit chill for her newly acquired tastes, but there was a whole preserve that was waiting for her to limp around and explore. However, she knew that today would be a good day to go to the library, to crack some things open and let the information pour out into her brain, entertainment, stories, contentment.

Oh, and she could get some books, too. But those, as she'd admit to only herself, were secondary. Adah limped in and leaned heavily on the desk when she reached it, leaning over half in expectation, half merely for balance. She looked at the Eel and smiled a light hello, blinked a what are you doing?

Edward grinned. "Yeah. Science of turning one thing into something else. But most people around here seem to think it's either magic or some other sort of hocus pocus."

"Sure, if you had a reason to," Ed said. "You have to understand the substance that you want to change then you can break it down and rebuild it as something else."

"You have to hold both structures in your mind," Edward explained. "It's not a physical breaking down with your hands. It's an equation. The output has to be the same mass as what you start with. It's called the law of equivalent exchange."

Anathema lasted all of half a day before deciding that a library was a much better place to spend her Sunday than her room.

Adah's head bobbed, slightly jerkily, in a response. Good, well, fine and swell, although it was a little surreal, this set-up, reversal of roles. She realized it was her first time in the library at all when she wasn't the one sitting behind the desk. Her head tilted at him, a silent question for the restless night before her own restlessness had her scanning the titles of books set out on the desk.

Anathema did a detour by the front desk. "Very well. And yourself?"

He grinned. "That and an array to channel the energy needed for the transmutation."
