Aly sat on her desk as she watched her students file into the room. Start of the term was always fun especially with these students. She waited until everyone had found a seat or at least a comfortable place to lean and began.

"What we need," she said. "Is a baseline that we can start with. So what I want from you today is to pair up and discuss your own experiences." She paused. "Your own or something you've seen done, a time someone tried to protect you. I don't want this to be an exercise in emo or browbeating so while I'm sure none of you would take it that way, let me just have said it."

"This can be anything. It doesn't have to be a life and death situation. You can have tried to protect your sister from dating the guy you didn't like." Aly grinned. "I'm a little sister though. Trust me when I say that never works."

"But what I'd like you to do is talk about what works in your experience. What doesn't. Is the hardest thing protecting someone from themselves?" Aly shifted on the desk slightly, her hand reaching to stroke the black beads at her throat. "Most of you know I'm bored by theory. So this is going to be our 'theoretical class.' Next week we'll get into practicalities now that this is out of the way."

"And by the way, just so you know if I'm not around or you can't find me, Zuko and Dean Winchester are your TAs. Be nice to them."

[OOC: I am SO SORRY for the lateness/lameness of the class. I kinda forgot today was Tuesday. *cough* Great omen for the semester, yes. OCD is ~~a'coming.~~ Up! ]

"Hi, you want to pair up?" asked Prue.

"Sure," Eve said. "And you're... Prue, right? Phoebe's sister?"

"That's right." she said. "Needless to say I've had a lot of experience in today's subject with Phoebe as a sister."

Eve laughed softly. "Yeah, I know how that one goes. With Savannah in my family, there's more than enough opportunity for protecting someone."

"Yeah, it feels like I'm always protecting somebody from one thing or another. Although I'd much rather be protecting them from demons than from themselves." Of course that was one in the same in Phoebe's case.

"Can't say as I've had much experience with demons." Well, aside from being one. Well, half-demon. "What's that like?"

"It sucks. Being attacked all the time, having to keep your guard up all the time, constantly worrying about your families. And there's always the chance of death." Prue wasn't too worried about that anymore since she was dead already. "But it's my job to fight demons. So it was kind of a rush whenever one attacked. It was sort of like fulfilling my destiny. Does that sound weird?"

"Y'know, it doesn't," Eve said, shaking her head. "When you're good at your job and you... okay, not enjoy it, but... take pride in it... there's bound to be that rush."
