Love Smart: Period 2, Week 1

When students entered the classroom, they would find it set up like any normal high school classroom, complete with a projection screen covering what was probably a white board. Barney was waiting for students, looking slightly annoyed by his roster. He shoved a syllabus in the hand of each student as they entered the room. When it appeared most students had arrived, Barney began his lecture.

"This class is titled Love Smart and I, Barney Stinson, Professor of Awesome, will be your instructor." Barney looked around the room and sighed. "I know, I know, relationships are rarely awesome." He figured those from his Awesome class would agree with him. "But I agreed to teach this class so as to guide you students through the mysterious world of relationshps."


Barney took a moment and engaged his PowerPoint presentation. Images of sappy couples in love flashed across the screen along with the questions:
What is a Relationship?
Are you in a Relationship?
If so, why aren't you good enough for your significant other?
Are you a good liar?


Pointing a finger at the screen Barney said, "This is our topic for today. I want each of you to introduce yourself and tell us your answers to these questions." He looked expectantly at the group of students. "You know kids, when I feel sad, like you probably do right now as you're faced with your terrible relationship or lack thereof, do you know what I do? I stop being sad and get AWESOME instead. True story. Let's get started!"

"Yeah, I'm in a relationship with her-" he pointed at Annette. "-and I'm not good enough for her because, well, she's smarter than me."

That was a given. Everyone's smarter than Dick.

"I am not currently in a relationship," Jim said. "But I do think that I'm good enough for the significant other that I don't have. In fact, I think I may even be a bit better."

Jamie frowned slightly at the question. "No."

"No," Hermione said simply. Technically speaking she could have argued several friendshippy relationships she had, but she had a feeling that would be more trouble than it was worth.

"I'm not engaged in a romantic relationship," Beauty said with a frown.

Hell, she'd never even been kissed.

"I am in a relationship," Summer said, glancing over at Shawn. She grinned. "And I am totally good enough."

Shawn wasn't really sure if answering this question was a good idea. He nodded slowly anyway, with a quick grin at Summer. He isn't a good liar, and he knows it. "I am."

"... I'm not good enough for her, because I haven't always been there for her when she's needed it."

Hoshi had to think for a moment because she wasn't sure if her crush on a Starfleet commander more than twice her age counted. "No, I'm not in a relationship," she finally said.

"Yes, I am in a relationship with Dick, and I guess I'm not good enough for him because I tend to over-analyze everything."

"Yes," Molly answered, glancing in Karal's direction without quite meeting his eyes. Now that she'd read the syllabus, she was kind of regretting asking him to take this class with her.

"I'm not good enough because I'm not always that smart. Or sophisticated. I can also be kind of selfish."

Karal was looking resigned. "Yes, I am," he glanced at Molly, "and I am not good enough for her because I am never able to place her interests first. My duty to Vkandis must always take precedence."

"Yes, I'm in a relationship," Sam said, looking at Dawn. "And I'm not good enough for her because I get nervous a lot about whether or not I'm being a good boyfriend."

"I'm in a relationship," Willow said. she looked nervous. "Um... wouldn't it be up to him to say why I wasn't good enough?"

Not that Willow didn't have her theories.

"I am," she beamed dorkily at Sam, then frowned as she thought about it. There probably wasn't time for the whole list. "I'm not good enough for him because I can't protect myself from everything we have to deal with."
