Career Choices, Wednesday, 4th period - Week 1

"Good morning, students," Emma greeted them as they entered the Danger Shop. Today it was set up as an ordinary classroom. "I apologize if I seem a bit off today, but I heard some very upsetting news on the radio." IE Jamie was back. She pinched her nose with a gloved hand and sighed. "Oh well. One just have to be strong."

She had dressed up in her White Queen outfit in honour of the day. "Today we shall only introduce ourselves and have a look at the syllabus. Next week you shall begin acting out scenes as though you have a certain profession. It will be challenging, but I'm sure you'll all do well." She smiled. "This is your syllabus," she said, handing out the papers. "And this and this is your homework for next time. Study both as your roles will not be assigned until next week."

"Now, introduce yourselves and tell me which professions you have already tried or thought of."

"As long as you don't try to hurt the other person," Jamie replied. "And if the other person is of like nature. Though with Emma it might be a little more antagonistic. Haven't you had a friend you would just joke around with?"

"Well there you go!" Jamie said with a sweeping hand gesture (and missing any kind of sadness in her nod). "You can see what I'm talking about. Back home me and my buddy Guido would harass each other all day long."

Jamie let out a good natured laugh. "It's a little more complicated than that. I don't think there's a word that describes our relationship."

Cassandra nodded again. She was finding that words were overrated. There were far too many things that there weren't words for. It was far easier to just watch and see what people really meant.

"You sound fine to me," Jamie said with a dismissive wave. "So where do you hail from, Cassandra?"

"Nowhere really," she shrugged minutely. "I... wander."

"I've done my share of that," Jamie said leaning back in his chair. "Wander the world. Pick up new skills. And since this is Fandom you can usually find a way to some new and different places to boot."

"I'm going to try to learn to read," she offers. "And maybe learn how to get a job."

Jamie just raised an eyebrow at that. "I've held down a lot of jobs. Kind of a jack of all trades kind of guy. Any idea what kind of career you want?"

"Well you got a broad area to work with that kind of qualification," Jamie said earnestly. He paused for a second unsure on how to broach the topic. "Is there anyone here who is going to help you learn to read?"

"Maybe?" Cass frowned, "I'm not sure." The Dean of Students is technically a "Dean" after all.

Cassandra frowned for a moment, "Third floor?" Usually once she finds a floor she can ask until she finds the right room.
