Aly had gotten back to the Island just in time for her first class.  Which was why she still had her bags stashed in the corner of the classroom as she sat on the desk, waiting for her class to come in.

"Morning all," she said, grinning, once everyone had come in the room.  "Good to see you all survived your week of no classes.  I'm sure it was difficult. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Alianne.  Call me Aly if you like, everyone does; call me Miss Aly though and I'll have to retaliate in some messy method.  This class is 15 Ways to Protect Yourself and Others which means I'm going to assume you all have some minor interest in the subject.  If not, feel free to head out and find a different class to be bored in."

"This isn't going to be an all combat all the time class.  I prefer to avoid fighting if at all possible so much of what we talk about is going to be ways around it.  Which isn't to say that we're not going to do a bit of fighting techniques and even possibly work with some explosives."  Aly grinned more broadly and glanced around to pick out the students in her workshops over the summer.  "What I'm hoping to to give you all a variety of ideas and ways you can approach a situation in order to get the best possible outcome for you and for others."

"So, to that end, I'd like to get to know those of you I haven't met before and get to know the rest of you all a bit better.  So let's go ahead and everyone introduce themselves, tell two things that they're good at and one thing they're hoping to learn in this class.  I'll start with saying that I'm rather good at making things explode and playing pranks.  And I'm hoping to learn what skills all of you already have."  She smirked.  "Which is a total cheat, I realise, but that's what you get to do when you're the teacher."

Jaina wasn't taking notes, but she was listening closely. You listened to the teacher who taught you how to explode things. It got to be habit.

No, notes weren't necessary for intro classes, but Chad still took them. Never knew when you'd need them and they helped keep him....focused.

"I'm Seely Booth," he said, smiling. "I'm a senior, I'm from Pittsburgh, and the bit on the radio about me having an awesome girlfriend is pretty much correct. Except for the Cuddles bit."

"I'm Aravis," she said quietly. "I'm a sophomore, from Archenland, and I like horses regardless of whether they speak or not. And I'd like to get better at not being stabbed."

Yes, someone's wounds were making her a touch cranky.

"I'm Jaina," she said, "I'm a sophomore and from outer space, so there are this many fewer people that need to ask me that later. I'm good at flying and building things, and I'd like to get better at avoiding conflict." She couldn't believe she'd just said that.

Molly gave Aly a huge grin. "I'm Molly Hayes and I'm a junior!" What? She was impressed by this. "I'm a cheerleader and the first fan of the flag football team." She grinned, as if finished, and then remembered something else. "Oh, and I'm also a mutant with super strength."

"Hey. M'Chad," he lifted his hand because most people knew that in this class. "Junior, from Mexico and Japan. I have a cat and used to be part of a band, and I, uh...I want to learn how to protect people better."

No, he didn't feel the answer to what he wanted to learn was a cop out; it wasj just true.

"I'm good with guns," Dean said, "and almost always can hit what I'm aiming at. Also, I'm pretty good with cars, both repairing and driving. As for what I want to learn... well I wouldn't mind learning more than I already know about blowing things up."
