Fandom High Weapons Poll

[OOC: ATTN: This is non-binding, non-official (although some official types thought it might not be a bad idea), and just to see what's actually what out there in the school. Vala's name is only on it because we needed a paid account (I'm so weak!) to post from.

(Remember: [livejournal.com profile] principalconnor rules this place with her Scary Iron Fist Of Doom, so what she ultimately says is what actually goes.)

Please answer IN CHARACTER (As a FH issue it's locked to FH members, sorry Townies!) ]

ETA: Question two, where it reads "magic users", it should read "people with magical/superpowers/mutantpowers/etc."

ETA2: Any mis-votes can be fixed by just "re-voting". It will only count your last answers.

ETA3: Anything I ([livejournal.com profile] aka_vala) posted in comments below with the "FH ate my life" icon are OOC, and my mistake in spacing the fact that comments are IC. My bad, please ignore. :(

[Poll #579502]

*nodnodnod* That was one of my objections that seemed to keep getting lost in all of the hubbub noise.

I'm not a normal normal but I'm very passive and nonaggressive. I don't carry weapons and I don't have any magical abilities to hurt/harm/affect anyone except to heal.

Maybe we should form a coalition for our voices to at least to be heard. Sort of a support group thing.

[identity profile] neptune-wallace.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it probably also gets lost because people like Wallace would feel too uncomfortable [and/or be too lazy] to argue their case vocally in study hall, for example. A united front would definitely feel more comfortable!

But it is about feeling safe. That is the argument that the weapons people want to impress, right? That they want to feel safe and in charge of their own defense?

Not sure how having all this aggression, and please don't deny that there are many students and teachers who are agressive, and being armed can possibly make those of us who have no way to fight back feel any 'safer'.

If it's about being discriminated against, those who get to keep their weapons and those who had them taken away, then those of us who don't have them or use them are also being discriminated against.

I'm not saying I don't want to see the guns ban to stay, I understand the reasoning why you guys want your guns back and I do agree.

I'm just saying if you use the argument to bolster your own agenda, there are those that at least want consideration as well.

And I wonder if it's been forgotten the reason why the ban went into affect to begin with.

Just saying...if there is going to be talk about reinstatement, I hope there will be strict adherence to rules put in place.

And it's been said over and over it's the random beasties you want to arm yourselves against, yes...after the hubbub about arming against their fellow students because 'they have built in weaponry and we don't feel safe against them'. It's not easy to just over look the original reasoning for the arguments.

Just because the 'argument' has changed to better support what you want doesn't mean the sentiment isn't still there.

*shrug* You have a gun, I don't. Just as the reasoning went that there was no guarantee that the magic users wouldn't use their abilities on the 'unarmed' student population, I now say the same about the weapon owners.

I'm glad it's open for discussion. I'm glad people are talking about it. I'm glad there is action being taken to show responsibility by all parties concerned. I'm glad people are seeing their previous arguments for and against were in need of adjustment.

I hope things go well for everyone, order is restored, rationale is implemented and things go smoothly.

Time will tell.

errr...that should actually read...I'm not saying I want to see the guns ban to stay,

((sorry. was responding in character. and there was more to the misunderstanding that 'just flowers' but whatever. I'm done. I'm starting to get nasty emails now.))

[identity profile] positive-angel.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
((*g* it's okeys. I took the instructions of 'answer in character' to mean in the comments too and went with it.

It's probably best I just bow out of the debate anyway, even though it's been really fun! This is the first time Chihaya's been this chatty.))

[identity profile] miss-monochrome.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc - What?! I'm not even on your side IC and I thought you were the most calm and reasonable outta *anyone* in this debate! WTF?]

[identity profile] miss-monochrome.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc - (which is not to say that less reasonable people deserve OOC hate, of course)]

[identity profile] positive-angel.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
((ooc: *giggle* thanks. He's trying and so am I, considering his viewpoints on the gun issue and mine are a bit different. A nice stretch.

No one deserves OOC hate for playing their characters. Some people I guess get so wrapped up in it they get carried away?))

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
[OOC: Nasty emails are so beyond the ridiculous right now I could spit. It's a game, folks. With non-real people having a discussion about non-real weapons at a completely made-up school. That had a zombie attack last weekend, in case anyone is confused about the "so not real life" part of our program.]

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
((You have? Gah, geez, this is a RP and people need to learn the difference between IC and OOC. I've been having fun discussing things with you. *sighs*))

[identity profile] alchemy-4-arson.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
But it is about feeling safe.

But at the same time, in the most basic way, part of the original RP premise is that it's not safe. It's insane and sometimes dangerous.

[identity profile] positive-angel.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
IC: Chihaya would disagree

OOC: I know that is what the RP premise was for. I was having Chihaya respond in character. Sorry if there was confusion.
