Dealing With Stupid People [Tuesday, August 21, 2nd period]

Josh was sitting in a chair in the Danger Shop, which was mocked up to look like Caritas a karaoke bar.

"One of the most common places to run into stupid people--especially stupid ones who won't take hints--is in a social situation."

He waved his hands around. "Stupid people who don't know lyrics, stupid people who order drinks with plastic monkeys in them, stupid people who won't take no for an answer, it's all wrapped into a typical Friday night." He grinned. "And that's your challenge today. You get to be those annoying people. All of you. See how long mutual stupidity will last before one of you has to break character and attempt to beat each other with sticks."

He took a sip from his mug of coffee. "It's been a thing, kids. See you all in government class."

Sokka knew how to do that!

Believe it or not, when he was deliberately trying to sing badly? His singing was worse than usual.

Mel glared at Sokka's bad singing.

And attempted to peck at him until he stopped.

"OW! HEY! OW! Quit it!" Sokka waved his arms wildly, trying to ward off the bird. "Professor Lemon, is this thing yours?"

Mel squawked a couple of times and glared at Sokka. She was definitely NOT a thing. Human in bird form but NOT a thing. Damn it.

He looked it in the eye. "Student?"

Mel rolled her eyes which looked a little different in bird form but nodded.

The she gestured to the pink and purple highlights on her feathers.

It took Sokka longer than it should have, staring at her plumage, to catch on. And then he started chuckling. "MEL?" he asked. "Oh, man, Umbridge got you good, huh? Where's your boyfriend? He's gotta see this!"

Mel attempted to peck at Sokka again. NOT HER BOYFRIEND!

"It IS you!" Sokka chuckled gleefully, doing his best to bat her away. Then he started making kissy noises in her direction.

She contemplated scratching his eyes out. Katara can heal that, right?

Sokka knew that expression. Any time a girl looked at him that way, it meant he was about to experience lots of pain.

Except right now, she was a bird.

"Pffft. Don't try anything stupid," he said. "I can take you."
