Construction: Monday August 20th, All Day

Laid out for the workers is an array of small projects involving screwdrivers, paint and brushes, tar and shingles - anything that, unlike last week's efforts - won't make noise.

While there's still large machinery around that could be used for that, Xander's decided to step down that aspect of the ... thing that is not in any way an annoyance campaign. Wouldn't want people to get used to it and start to tune it out.

Instead, the construction site is completely silent.

Except for the boom-box directly under a certain window.

When the workers arrive, Xander just holds up a finger to his lips.

See the SHHH! sign? This means you. But there's several cans of paint -- not pink -- that can be liberally and silently applied to the walls.

Bel showed up late for work.

He probably looked very very very tired for some reason.

Stark was a little disappointed at the lack of loud things to play with today. Painting would just have to do.

Chew quietly.

Around lunchtime, a slightly worried looking Bridge stops by, carrying a takeout bag from Luke's.

Xander grins at the hair, then raises a concerned eyebrow at Bridge's expression. "What's up?"

"She called Z into her office." Bridge doesn't specify *which* she- he doesn't really need to. "I don't know if she went or not, I left a message but she didn't call back and I swear, if she hurt her *at all*..." yeah Bridge looks more angry than worried now.

Xander frowns. "Seriously, this stuff has got to stop. Even if she didn't hurt Z, she's getting off on intimidating people."

"How could they even let someone like her be in charge of a *school*?" Bridge asks. "If it were up to me, I wouldn't even put her in charge of a *radish*."

"...Do radishes really need people to be in charge of them?"

"Well, in charge of making sure they get watered and fertilized so they can grow properly..." Bridge says. "Okay, seeing now why even two green thumbs might not be enough."

"Hey, I could totally be in charge of a radish!"

No, this conversation doesn't remotely send Xander to the place where he's wondering why anybody would let him be in charge of kids, or specifically a kid, sometime in the future.

"I'll keep that in mind," Bridge says, eyeing Xander carefully. "Whatcha thinkin'?" he asks as he hands over half the contents of the takeout bag.

"That even I could feed and water a kid better than this chick seems to be doing."

"Of *course* you could!" Bridge says. "You did great that time everyone's kids were here. You did great when *I* was a kid."

"I guess." Xander glances towards the school. "Like I said, couldn't be worse than that, anyway."

"Hey," Bridge says, his tone solemn as he reaches for one of Xander's hands. "I know for a *fact* that Bronwyn totally thought the world of you. It's not just that you couldn't be *worse*- I think you'll be brilliant."

"You're a little biased," Xander says, but his smile is genuine.

"More than a little," Bridge admits with an answering grin.

"Aaaaanyway." Xander pauses and cocks his head as ...we were free like water flowing down... plays. "I think the point here is my parents could take better care of kids than Um-not-you is doing."

"No argument here," Bridge snorts. "...though they're still not high on the list for potential babysitters for any future offspring."

Xander shudders. "So not an issue, trust me."

"Good to know," Bridge says firmly. "Also, you should eat your lunch before it gets cold."

"Whoa, I put off eating free food - I gotta be coming down with something." Xander pretends to feel his own forehead.

"I hope not," Bridge says with a concerned frown. "Though if you were I'd still bring you food. It'd just be, you know, soup-food."

Xander grins and opens the bag. "I think it's just a bad case of ratherbitchthaneat. Which I seem to be over."

If you're actually still sane after a morning of listening to ETS on repeat, there's a section of roofing that needs to be re-shingled.

Bel had faced torture before. He could handle this.

He hoped.

It's possible the music made Stark a little less sane. It's very hard for anyone to tell the difference though.

Or dance.

He's not wearing earplugs today.

Whyfor must it be Monday?
