"Hey, guys," Hannelore said, waving as everyone filed into the Danger Shop. "So okay, sometimes when you want everything organized, there's other stuff going on, all at once, right? And you get kind of flustered and you know what makes that worse? Just setting stuff aside and acting like you don't need to make sure everything goes in the right place, because then it'll just get lost and you'll get more flustered and it's just an endless cycle and it's the worst ever."

She gave a little shudder, and waved a hand at the Shop, which was made up like a coffee shop. "My friend Dora at home runs a coffee shop, and like every single day, that happens. Customers come in, Faye scares them, they drop coffee, and no one cleans it up until the end of the day. Or they come in and ask for something with syrup in it and then the syrup? Just doesn't get put back. It's horrible."

"So, uh, I want you guys to prove you can do better than that. You all get to man the counter, and I'm going to see if you can deal with customers and keep stuff neat and up to my standards the whole time, okay? Because that? Is the real world."

Cedric took his spot at the counter.

A guy in a trucker hat sauntered up. "Uh, hi. Coffee with skim and whipped cream."

He affectedly played with his hat, trying to make his hair messier underneath it.

"Hello," Cedric said cheerfully and moved to make the customer's order. The order wasn't too difficult or complex so even Cedric managed to make it pretty well.

"Here we are!"

The guy reached for it and knocked it over.

"Oops," he replied, stumbling back lest anything get on his perfectly cuffed Abercrombie tee omg.

"Not a problem," Cedric said, grabbing a rag to clean up the mess. "Shall I get you another?"

"Yeah, since it was totally your fault," the guy grumbled.

It hadn't been.

"Of course," Cedric said, frowning once before making another coffee for the man and setting it carefully on the counter. "There we are."

The guy bumped it with his elbow so it sloshed. "Dude, so sloppy."

Cedric picked up the cup and wiped up the excess coffee. And then he just tried to hand it to the guy.

The guy took it.

Or tried to.

He might have dropped it.

Again.

Cedric took a deep breath.

"Sir, are you all right?"

"Fine, dude. I don't know why you're so bad at handing me things."

Cedric tried one more time. He made the coffee, put it on the counter and held it with one hand to prevent it from going anywhere.

The guy eyed the cup, possibly seeing if he could somehow knock it over again.

"Thanks."

"Pick up the cup," Cedric told him, "while I hold it. It's hot. I don't wish your hand burned."

"You want to hold it too?" The guy sighed, and picked up the cup.

When he was almost certain that it wasn't going to be dropped, he took his hand away.

The guy tipped the cup, like he might spill it again.

"Don't!" Cedric said, reaching out to tip back the right way.
