Study Hall -- Wednesday, September 28th

Welcome to Wednesday's study hall. I'm in a considerably better mood than yesterday, which mostly means none of you will be getting set on fire today. I reserve the right to threaten you with it, though. You have no fucking idea how entertaining the looks on your faces are when I do that.

*grins wickedly and takes a drag off her cigarette*

The announcements for today --

-- Biff is missing once again from the front of the teachers lounge. If somebody could find that stupid goddamn bear and drag it back, I'd appreciate it. (I won't be rettaching any limbs you might lose, though. That's your fucking problem, not mine.)

-- After the events of last weekend, I'm thinking of lifting the weapons ban. I'll be opening up a discussion section in the comments for those opposed and those for the weapons ban to hash out any differences they might have, any requests they might have for licensing or policing those who wish to carry their weapons, and any other problems they might wish to discuss.

-- Parents Weekend will take place on October 28th, 29th, and 30th. For the record, you may make one new RPG journal for whichever parent, guardian, relation, or mortal enemy you might wish to bring in for your character. These characters cannot already be enrolled in the school or exist in town, and if you can find someone not already involved in the game to play them just for that weekend, all the better. However, these characters will not be allowed posting access on FH or any related communities, they will only be allowed to comment in designated threads -- open houses for classes, the Halloween dance, etc. They're only here to visit for one weekend, folks -- they won't be hanging in the dorms or taking classes or anything. Also, teachers will be allowed to call parent/teacher conferences with any of their students they might wish to meet with (or any "parent" they might wish to interview ... *snerk*).

(OOC: Also, for the record, I'm not playing John Connor anymore -- I've passed him off to someone else. Now he can get a little more play, the poor antisocial bastard. :))

*shrugs* I'm all for the weapons ban, personally. Can't we, like, be emo and full of angst without going Columbine?

((OOC: Seriously, though, this is supposed to be a high school, and the students are supposed to be teenagers. Strange, otherworldly teenagers, but teenagers all the same. Is the weapons ban that unfair? The students are allowed to fuck teachers and each other, drink all the alcohol, and take all the drugs they please. Seems pretty fair to me. ;)

It's all too easy to pull a gun on someone or cast a spell to get yourself out of a situation. AND THAT MAKES IT BORING. I don't want to play a boring, predictable game. George could potentially be a threat to every living being in this school, and you can't kill her because she's already dead. So is she considered a weapon, too?

Anyway. I think the weapons ban makes this game more interesting. You're forced to be more imaginative than "So-And-So pulls revolver and kills Antagonist dead."))

[ooc: I'm with you on boring. That's why I decided any attempts to soul/desoul him needed to go through the mods, even though prior to that Angelus got something that could desoul him in an instant. I figured if there's no effort needed we we could switch his personality back and forth with a press of a button and where's the fun in that?

Likewise, let's face it, he could've snapped the neck of quite a few people who he doesn't like and be done with them. But that's no fun for their players. So I like that he's got restrictions on him. It means both he and I have to get creative if he wants to do that voodoo that he does so well.

Which isn't to say I don't get why some characters/players be upset about the ban. I was just enjoying a moment of solidarity with somebody else who likes a challenge =) ]

((OOC: I like how you handled the "Give your boyfriend a message for me" thing with Angela. The exchange of mere words was chilling enough without the threat of "weapons." I look forward to seeing how all of this is eventually resolved (if it isn't already -- I'm slow at catching up here because of RL responsibilities), and would be disappointed if it all came down to an exchange of gunfire -- or wooden stakes. ;)

Thanks for your response. It's good to know that George's mun isn't alone in her feelings.))

[ooc: Well what's nice for me is that we know from canon that Angelus enjoys manipulating people more than flat-out killing them. So that gives me a lot of avenues for his reactions that don't require snapping necks.

As for the Angela thing... just wait and see. 8) ]

[OOC: I haven't jumped in on this until now, but you nailed it. In-character Kawalsky will want to keep some kind of weapon on him in case the zombies/Goa'uld/other freakwits of the abyss come after them. I, however, think that having guns around does make it too easy to just shoot whatever pisses you off. And, well, a lot of these characters ARE very 'shoot first, ask questions later'. But yes. I agree with you, despite my character loving his gun.]
