Study Hall -- Wednesday, September 28th

Welcome to Wednesday's study hall. I'm in a considerably better mood than yesterday, which mostly means none of you will be getting set on fire today. I reserve the right to threaten you with it, though. You have no fucking idea how entertaining the looks on your faces are when I do that.

*grins wickedly and takes a drag off her cigarette*

The announcements for today --

-- Biff is missing once again from the front of the teachers lounge. If somebody could find that stupid goddamn bear and drag it back, I'd appreciate it. (I won't be rettaching any limbs you might lose, though. That's your fucking problem, not mine.)

-- After the events of last weekend, I'm thinking of lifting the weapons ban. I'll be opening up a discussion section in the comments for those opposed and those for the weapons ban to hash out any differences they might have, any requests they might have for licensing or policing those who wish to carry their weapons, and any other problems they might wish to discuss.

-- Parents Weekend will take place on October 28th, 29th, and 30th. For the record, you may make one new RPG journal for whichever parent, guardian, relation, or mortal enemy you might wish to bring in for your character. These characters cannot already be enrolled in the school or exist in town, and if you can find someone not already involved in the game to play them just for that weekend, all the better. However, these characters will not be allowed posting access on FH or any related communities, they will only be allowed to comment in designated threads -- open houses for classes, the Halloween dance, etc. They're only here to visit for one weekend, folks -- they won't be hanging in the dorms or taking classes or anything. Also, teachers will be allowed to call parent/teacher conferences with any of their students they might wish to meet with (or any "parent" they might wish to interview ... *snerk*).

(OOC: Also, for the record, I'm not playing John Connor anymore -- I've passed him off to someone else. Now he can get a little more play, the poor antisocial bastard. :))

"Thank you, Marty," Rory says, smiling weakly.

[ooc: Damn it! Our comments almost coincided, timing-wise. An DAMN IT. I copied that from the radio commercial last night, and I forgot that Parker had forgotten to put Alanna in. I'll fix it.]

"You okay? You look like you've only had twelve cups of coffee today."

"Yeah," Rory says. She pauses. "Do I really look that bad? I didn't sleep."

Marty gives Rory a look of concern.

"You sure you're all right. Don't forget."

Marty holds up a cup of coffee.

"Coffee buddy."

Rory smiles ruefully, and holds up her own huge cup in a sort of toast.

"I'll be fine," she says dismissively, before taking a generous swallow of the hot liquid.

Marty nods and notices that Phoebe is on the ticket now.

"So Phoebe is replacing Cuddy? That's good. I was hoping you guys would find another candidate. I can't obviously endorse anyone I'm running against, but I'm interested to see what happens when we finally have a debate. Do you have any idea when that might happen?"

"No, though I know a bunch of people were talking about it in journalism the other day. That should be interesting. I think I'm running against only one other person, and I haven't seen any advertising or anything from him. So I'm fairly confident...though a debate might throw that off. I'm not the greatest public speaker."

Marty gives her friendly grin.

"I think everyone knows who you are and what kind of person you'll be in office. I don't think you have to worry much about the competition."

Marty gives her a weird look.

"Though I'd be worried about any pictures of that Ronald fellow showing up. And I find it hard to believe you endorse Jell-O wrestling."

Rory smiles - it's faint, but geniune.

"Ronald is a very big supporter of our campaign. And I endorse everything my running mates stand for - including Jell-O wrestling."

Marty laughs and writes down on the endorsement sheet:

"I fully support Rory Gilmore as a candidate for the student relations position. She's a class act and a good friend to all."

Marty pauses for a moment and then writes:

"Even if she does have an unnatural obsession with the Swedish chef."

He thanks Rory for the coffee and heads off to class.
