Patriotism Yay!: Period 2, Week 5

"Good morning, class," said Steve as the students gathered. "I don't actually have a lecture today. Instead, each of you is going to give a presentation on your nation. Then we'll discuss what you learned, and then you can run away. Sound good? Great. Let's get started."

Evie's presentation (http://bookyeve.livejournal.com/6426.html) addressed all of the major points of the report, and also went on to compare 1917 and 2007 Egypt. "What's interesting to me is that over ninety years, Egypt became and almost wholly different country in some respects. It's still one of the leading nations of the Middle East, and it still has some of the same problems. But while the governments changed a great deal, Egypt itself is still culturally very similar." She looked thoughtful. "And the fact that I am very glad that they'll gain their independence in five years does argue that I am more Egyptian, even if it's European-Egyptian, than I am English."

Few people know that the vibranium/steel alloy used in Cap's shield is actually just a foil wrapper and that it's chocolate inside.

Peter was, to be precise, really freaking intimidated on giving a report on Captain freaking America's home state. (Peter figured that was slightly less intimidating than doing a report on Captain freaking America's country.)

Fortunately for Peter he was above all a good student and gave a handwavily good presentation despite the nerves.

"I just wanted to let you know that I might not be in class next week," Turtle said with a little bit of a pout. "It's my sister's wedding this weekend, and my parents want me to stick around for a bit because I never visit anymore."
