Comparitive Religions

Well, I suppose that it would be time for class...

who would like to talk about Hinduism tonight?

Oz tries to be the first person to class, so he could maybe have a word with Professor gandalf, to explain why he missed Friday's class. He looks nervous when he slips into the classroom.

"Professor? Can I talk to you?"

Lane slips in quietly and gets her notebook out and ready for class.

"I just...want to let you know why I skipped class Friday." Oz gives him a pained smile. "The zombies...something...I was...sick." He nods, trying t convince himself. He's not comfortable with this at all, but he's really worried he'll get kicked out of class or detention, which he really doesn't want, if he doesn't have a good excuse.

*shows up promptly for class*

*slumps under desk*

Did everyone hear about that?

Oz nods, grateful. "Thank you. I...just, thanks." He smiles again, a bit more genuine and goes to take a seat for class.

*is startled*

"Oh, me? Uh, I'm fine, I guess. Umm, how are you, professor?"

*smiles*

Lane laughs

"More food? You're too good to us!"

Is... here.

Um...that it exists... that it is a... word for lot of gods... polytheistic religion and they have a rigid social structure and if you do something bad you come back as a bug?

The sutra: "Lead me from ignorance to truth, from darkness to light, from death to immortality" sounds very, very familiar to me. It's almost exactly like what I use every day in my own meditations.

Hinduism, and indeed, many of the Eastern religions we've studied so far, remind me of a grammatically challenge green alien of my acquaintance of what I've been taught to associate with the Force.

Because...immortality. Is there a way to become immortal? Is there something at the end of it all. Everything dies. Stars, suns, planets, people oh, the people. Mom, are you still alive?.

*shakes head* It's an impossible creed to live up to.

Cameron enters the class and takes a seat. "What jack said. Hinduism is a polytheology. There are lots of different gods and goddesses, some dieties actually have different incarnations. They believe in reincarnation and that if you're good in this life, you'll come back in a better situation."
