When the students came out to the main campfire on Tuesday morning they would notice that Buster wasn't anywhere to be found. Or so they thought. Only those with a keen eye would notice Buster hiding behind a tree. When everyone had arrived he crept up quietly to the class. Even then he might not be noticed. No, the students might not notice that their teacher was there until he coughed and said "Heeeey students."

"Today we'll be learning how to be neither seen or heard. I'm an expert at this due to me spending many years at the Milford Academy. It's a useful skill. You can avoid anybody you don't want to see or you can use it to pick up information. The latter may backfire because you might find out things you didn't ever, ever want to know. Horrible things about your mother." Buster shivered. "Ugh."

"Now, the most important thing about being neither seen or heard is the way you dress. Anybody can dress up in all black and put on goofy makeup to keep yourself from being seen but won't you feel stupid if you're caught? But if you dress up in floral prints and wear a lot of pastels people won't think you're worth their time and not notice you there. Or they're think you are "special" and won't mind spilling their secrets around you." he said. "Hiding in plain sight, that's what being neither seen or heard is all about."

"Also, no talking. I cannot stress how important this is. Some people just can't shut their traps and that makes other people untrusting of them." he said. "When you must talk be polite and keep sentences short. I have gone days without talking and nobody in my family noticed."

"So today we're going to do two activities that will prepare you for being neither seen or heard. The no talking game and hide and seek!" said Buster. "I know you know them well."

"And for homework I want you to hide in plain sight sometime this week. Dress inconspicuously. See what kind of information you can find out from people." he said. "Or maybe someone will care enough to try to find out where you are. But that's rare. The only time someone wanted to find me was to help them zip up their dress."

Johnny had no idea where Jeff could be hiding.

Somewhere between a cabin and some foliage laid what appeared to be a small, discarded bundle of, er, magazines. Had Johnny ever spoken to Jeff, suspicion would have probably been a natural response.

Being that Johnny had not yet spoken to Jeff, he came upon those magazines and stared down at them. He wondered if Buster tried to hide them in a hurry before class started? Either way, he was not going to touch them.

He moved on.

Jeff would have probably let go of a whoop of joy if he hadn't learned his lesson (temporarily) earlier, or wasn't as precariously balancing with his shirt pulled over his head.

But he didn't move very fast.

He looked back and narrowed his eyes, searching.

And he didn't have to wait long, as Jeff misplaced a foot and fell from wherever he'd been balancing, landing backfirst on the little pile of magazines.

He still had the shirt pulled over his head.

"What the hell?" Johnny rushed forward and stared down, ready to help the guy up. "Hey, you okay?" He still had no idea who it was yet and he was not about to right the guys clothing; he could be hiding his face for a reason.

"I'm fine!" Jeff said, voice muffled by his shirt. There had been some logic about camouflage and trees behind it, but that particular train had careened past him together with the fall. "I'm just having a quick nap." He wrestled with the shirt. "Sunlight, you know."

There was definitely something amusing if not down right strange about this situation. The guy was layng on those magazines with his shirt pulled over his head and..."Oh my God! Come on!"

Still, if he was a classmate --

Johnny reached down to try and touch the guys ankle.

And Jeff managed to wrestle his shirt back down at the same time as he got tagged. He stared at his ankle with a pained expression, then scrambled to his feet, stumbling just a little bit.

"You, uh, okay? And oh yeah, gotcha." But Jeff wasn't the last one getting tagged, so he wasn't "it".

"It's the sun, isn't it?" Jeff said, brushing himself off, "I think it takes pleasure out of disorienting people." It had, in fact, been mostly cloudy all morning.

"The sun?" Johnny didn't look up. "I...guess if you stare at it long and hard enough, yeah."

"Oh," Jeff blinked, before ~~limping~~ wandering campfire-wards, "That, too."

"You...sure you're okay? Jeff, right? Where did you fall from?" Johnny wouldn't have been too terribly surprised if he answered, 'from the sky'.

"Jeff, yeah," Jeff said, "It's nothing, I just suffered a minor bout of whiplash..." he paused, "...Earlier. I think it might've gotten... er, reacquainted."

Johnny rubbed the back of his neck. He didn't want to think about whiplash. Or rather Jeff's whiplash or...his reacquaintance with... "Uh, all right then. Guess I better go find everyone else." He was purposefully avoiding eye contact here.

"Catcha later."

Jeff had unpleasant and fresh whiplash-memories, and was decidedly grateful for the opportunity to stop talking about it. He would have fled to the campfire, but ended up plodding instead.

It'd clear up.
