Dealing With Stupid People [Tuesday, July 17, 2nd period]

When the students arrived in the Danger Shop, they found the room decorated as an incredibly soulless phone center.

"Welcome to the help desk!" Josh said, grinning proudly. "People are very stupid over the phone, especially when they know you can't see the expression on their faces. This is also why video conferences aren't as popular as regular conference calls--hiding your eyerolling is easier when, well, they can't see your eyes."

He waved his hands out. "Today you will be manning a help desk. I have handwavily put out posters to let people know that it's open during this class time, so the phones should start ringing any minute now. Your job is to answer the person's question in the most polite way possible without letting them know you think they are completely out of their minds."

"Coffee, muffins and bagels are available, answering their questions correctly is completely optional." Josh smirked. "Have fun."

[OOC: Phone lines are open for townies, students, and faculty members to call in. Josh has conveniently forgotten to specify what kind of help the students would offer. Ask for relationship advice, song requests, technical support, people to vote for or against bills in Congress, just to say hi...go nuts.]

"So...I was standing there at the counter, looking down at them and I just don't know - should I buy them or not? Do I need a doctor's advice? What if they don't work for me? What if they're icky? I just don't know." Dramatic sigh.

Savannah grinned. "Now see, that would depend on what exactly the impression you're trying to make. Do you want to have a dramatic effect or something more subdued..." She tried not to giggle because she was pretty sure she knew the voice and reminded herself to buy her a drink next time she saw her.

"Is the doctor that would ask advice from cute?"

"I see your point. Cause do I want to make a good impression or just an okay impression that really isn't worth a second look sort of thing? I would love a dramatic effect but not to the point where someone's going ew. Know what I mean?"

Annette paused and thought of Christian, "Oh heck yes, he's more than a little cute."

"Okay, then I would definitely not go with salmon coloured ones because that would clash with just about everything on earth. That would cause the Ew reaction. No, it sounds like what you want to go for is a less subtle approach that balances out all of the better qualities."

She paused. "Cute doctors are always good for advice... or for flirting with while trying to get their professional opinion."

"Oh, I definitely wouldn't want my upper self affected in anyway, if you know what I mean. I think my upper self is pretty okay. And samlon, really? I mean, once it goes in it's not like anyone sees it after that. Right?"

Annette nodded even though it could not be seen, "Oh, he's flirted all right. He's flirted lots and now that I think about it, it has been some time since I visited him. Perhaps I'm due for a physical. Perhaps I need professional advice on whether or not to buy these or to just let him give them to me. What do you think?"

"You do know that our outer affect and presentation is always affected from the inside, too." This was way, way too fun. "I really think that getting personal advice from Dr. Cutie on these things would be a definite plus on how to go about this. After all, he is a professional where this is concerned."

"That is some great advice. I wonder how I will feel physically though, cause I don't want to get sick or you know, get the jitters or anything and get like addicted. I could get addicted to that doctor though, cause yowza, he's a hottie."

"Well, if you get addicted to him, just know that you have a helpful friend here who be willing to help you out..." Savannah was biting her lip to stop the giggles. Definitely, definitely buying something for her allowing her to have so much fun. "As for the jitters, there are several things that you can do to calm them down and overcome them completely."

"How would you do that exactly if I become addicted? And you are so helpful! Tell me how to overcome the jitters! Yay!" Annette was hiding her giggling. She had called in first term and had a blast with Prue and this was turning out to be just as much fun. Plus? She knew it was Savannah on the other end of the line.

"Well first, I would bring Dr. Cutie to you for a house call so you didn't have to further compromise your system by pushing yourself too much." She was dying here. "For the jitters caused by something like this, only really good exercise of an intercourse type will help cut down on the jitters that may or may not be caused by this."

Oh yes, Annette was definitely deserving of something fun after this.

"That might be an issue. This house call stuff. See, I live in a dorm and though I am roommateless, he can't come there. Ooh, maybe I should suggest going to his place of residence. Yes! I could see him out of his doctor's garb. I mean. Well. Just the lab coat." Pause. "Exercise of an intercourse type you say? Hmm. What if I've suddenly decided to give up on such a regimen? I hear too much can get boring. But if I quit altogether then maybe the jitters are caused from something else entirely. Oh my."

"You never want to quit anything cold turkey," she counseled in her best sober voice. "Quitting like that could cause even more jitters and worse!"

Re: Man the Help Desk!

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Holy crap! Worse even? I won't ever quit cold turkey then. Maybe what, just one or two a day? Three if I'm feeling really hungry?"

"That sounds like a very wise plan of action... wean yourself slowly off of it."

Re: Man the Help Desk!

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Is three weaning? Maybe I shouldn't push too hard, you know? Ah, man, now I just don't know what to do. I need to ask that sexy doctor. I haven't started yet. I need to start I guess to know what weaning off slowly is. Right?"

"That sounds like a very good plan."

"Thanks! You have been so helpful! I hope you get paid a lot of money for this. Have a great day! Bye!" Annette hung up, giggling.

Savannah hung up the phone and then gave into the giggles she had been fighting.

Annette was damn awesome.
