Speech Comm

She wears a sharp blue suit and speaks veeery softly and slowly...

201--Trust Me

Good morning gang. Ok, we're working with a theme of trust this week. Last week was influence and persuasion, so this week I'd like you to prep a speech in which you persuade me to trust you. What do you feel trust is all about? Why should I, the biggest chicken on the teaching staff, trust you? In what ways will you persuade me? Keep in mind the appeals to your character, utilizing specific evidence, and appealing to my emotions. Start brainstorming, you can feel free to ask me questions. This will be helpful for those of you involved in these elections we've got going on...politics is all about presenting the information and getting people on your side. You'll present this Thursday, keep it short. 3-5 minutes. Ok, go.

301--Trust Games

*All the desks have been pushed to the back of the class in a heap. There will be no sitting today.*

Morning, guys. OK, first. Someone may have had a reaction to the drinks from yesterday. I just wanted to make it absolutely clear that I didn't do anything that would harm you. If you felt anything, it was just a little lidocaine. These are trust games. Keep that in mind.

Now, yesterday I saw some intereting things. Some of you have real trust issues...and I don't just mean those who refused to drink. Sydney and Chiana probably have very good reasons behind their behavior. However, others in this class, I'm amazed at how readily you trusted me...I understand your situation, really. I'm up here, I have the political power in this classroom. You ought to be able to trust me to keep you safe, and, in theory, teach you something. However, what if I am intentionally misleading you? I clearly wrote on the board NOT to drink what was in the cups before you ever got here. Why did my words convince you otherwise? Hmm...

Ok, moving on.

So yesterday we saw your level of trust regarding me. Today we're going to work on your trust with one another.

Personal space varies from culture to culture. Part of this is how a person is taught to value their body, and part has to do with the environment in which a person was raised. However, all cultures, when faced with a stranger, tend to be wary and will only let people get so close to them. So here's our game for the day. I want you to pair up with someone...anyone. I want you to stand, facing each other, 1 meter apart. You will take turns disclosing personal details...not deeply personal please. Your pet's name, your shoe size...I don't really care, I just don't want this to get more uncomfortable than it will.

Ok, with each disclosure take a step forward. IF you get to physical contact, I want you to hold that for as long as possible. When you become uncomfortable, please feel free to take a step back.

If anyone winds up without a partner, you can use me. *Blinks* I mean I'll be your partner.

Ok, go.

Huh. Sounds like something that would happen to one of the Refugees.

I've died over two hundred times. I think.

"I once spent at least three months in a ten hour loop." Jack puts one of his hands on Anya's shoulders.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-09-30 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Wow, that must have been aweful. I hate loops unless I create them," she replies.

"I hate bunnies," she says shuddering at just the thought of the vile, little carrot eating creatures.

She scoots a little closer to Jack.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-30 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Jack's a little uncomfortable, but he's dealt with worse then this. And besides, he's never been one to back down first.

"Yeah it sucked a lot. Did have a few advantages though."

"What about African Swallows?"

"I hate snakes." Jack puts his other hand on her other shoulder.

I've traveled around the world disfiguring and disemboweling men who wronged their women," she says, as she moves forward and closes the small gap left between them.

ooc: really. i have to go. fandom high is going to eat my math grade if i don't. (more to myself than you, because I REALLY, REALLY like the crack that is fandom high!)

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-30 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
"I've been further." Jack leans forward a little so that his chest is brushing hers. Oh yeah, this isn't awkward at all.

[OOC: I do the exact same thing. I spend, on average, two-three hours a night trying to get offline.]

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I've done things at my previous job you couldn't even imagine," she says.

Anya stands on her tip toes and is now nose to nose with Jack.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
"I molested one of my roommates pillows and slept with Shep." Jack moves his head forward a little so it's touching Anya's. He's more than a little curious what comes next.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I find the exercise very interesting and you very pleasing to the eye," she blurts out.

She then realizes if she moves any closer to Jack, their lips will touch.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah well you're not so hard on the eye yourself." Jack laughs a little.

Guess it's a good thing I didn't have that garlic and onion sandwich this morning like I planned huh?"

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't move forward," she says and brushes his lips with hers.

She wonders why anyone would want to eat a garlic and onion sandwich ever, much less in the morning.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Jack kisses back a little hesitantly and moves his hands from her shoulders to her hips.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Pulls back slowly, unsure of what just happened.

After all, wasn't this just a game? Now she's kissing him and getting all these goofy feelings.....good goofy feelings And doesn't he have a crazy girlfriend?

"So, did we win?" She asks, smiling.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Jack pulls back from the kiss, a little confused.

Crazy girlfriend get's the random sex thing and even did with Angelus sometime recently.

"I'm not sure this is that type of game." Jack responds.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh," she replies, wondering what kind of game doesn't have a winner.

She stands there looking at him awkwardly, not knowing what to say, but not sure she wants either of them to leave.

"I feel our game was productive," she says lamely, still managing to keep the pep in her voice.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-02 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Any idea how we know when the game's over? I wasn't really paying attention."

Jack is very confused now. On the one hand it isn't incredibly horrible being this close to Anya, on the other hand they're standing in the middle of a classroom technically doing schoolwork.

"Productive. Yeah. I guess you could say that." Jack responds warily.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wasn't paying attention either," Anya answers. "Before today I was getting bored of the professor's tiresome games."

"I guess we could just leave and see if anyone tries to stop us," she suggests, although she doesn't want her time with Jack to be over. "Maybe we could go somewhere else and talk some more?"

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-04 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't think they were that bad. Didn't love the whole numb-mouth thing but..." Jack scratches the back of his head a little.

"We could talk. Talking's...good. I guess. Anywhere in particular?"

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-10-04 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"I..uh...I didn't really have a place in mind," she stammers.

"It's just one of those things I hear people say when they don't want to leave the company of the person they are with, but they don't want to remain where they are. Where people could report back to psycho girlfriend,"she says matter-of-factly.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-04 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[OOC: Since it's still last Tuesday here wanna make them agree to meet next week (Today) so things fit okay? Also soon as of Sunday night Beka and Jack will be friends with benefits instead of dating. Confusing ain't it?]

(Anonymous) 2005-10-05 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
ooc: yeah, that sounds like a good idea. i was trying to figure out how to talk to him in the present, when they still eren't done with the past so...

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-05 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
[OOC: Maybe Anya and Jack try to get together and can't find common free-time until next Tuesday (Today)?]

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-09-30 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
ooc: have to study for mid-terms so we can either talk again tomorrow (I am done tomorrow at 1 pacific and will be online and drunk by 2ish). OR if you are itching to gab with Anya some more tonight email cj and she'll jump in for me.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-30 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[OOC: Either one is cool with me, I'm just not sure how tomorrow is looking for me though, grocerys and things like that...]

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-09-30 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
i'll probably be on line all most of the afternoon and night, so whatever sounds good. i'll either come back to comments or see what i have done.

Have a good night!

[OOC: Cool. G'night to you too!]
