Potpourri - Period 1 - Monday, June 9th

Buster looked even more nervous than he did on his first day of class last semester. He wasn't wearing his hook and probably wouldn't be for a while. He was still crying at night about what he did to Warren. He waited until everyone arrived before speaking.

"Heeeeeeeeey students. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Buster Bluth. I'll be your teacher for the rest of the semester." started Buster. "You guys are lucky. I already taught this class last semester so I'll be way less inclined to spaz out and scar you all for life!"

Buster laughed and clapped his hands together. "So, as it says on the syllabus, this class doesn't really have a set subject. So if you want to learn a little about any subject just let me know. I most likely took a class on it during my ten years of college."

"Um, you may notice I don't have a T.A. this semester." Buster said softly. "You may heard that I stabbed the old one with my hook...I was just trying to give a hug."

"Oh well. These things happen!" he said. No they didn't. "Let's make today an easy day and just do some introductions. Just tell me your name, an interesting fact about yourself and what your superhero name would be! I'll start! I'm Buster, I've stabbed numerous people and my superhero name would be Sealkicker Lovesjuice!"

He pointed at the student nearest to him with his fake hand. "You go next!"

All new students to boggle at Buster! Yay!

Johnny didn't boggle. He thought Buster Bluth was a pretty cool dude. He would have liked to seen the hook though.

Jeff was one new student who wasn't boggling. There was nothing strange about Buster for his standards and he was too busy doodling obscene words on the back of his hand (and grinning at it) to pay attention anyway.

Donatello was a little boggle-y, but not much. He'd about worn out his share of boggle last term.

Buster's looking at you with a creepy smile on his face. He's not being a pervert, he's just trying to be attentive.

"I'm Johnny Storm and I can light myself on fire. Hmm, I guess I would have to call myself The Human Torch," he grinned. "The ladies, they can call me Torch."

Yeah. That was hard.

"You can light yourself on fire?" asked Buster. "Do you need aloe afterwards or you just flame retardant?"

Johnny grinned, "Not exactly. I become just what my superhero name suggests, a torch. A living, breathing, torch, but torch all the same." He raised a brow, "Do you want to see?"

Buster took a step back from Johnny and shook his head wildly. "No...no thank you. I have a fear of bursting into flames."

Laughing, Johnny just shook his head. "All right, Mr. Bluth. I'll keep my flames to myself."

"...I'm Jeff," Jeff said, caught mid-doodle and freezing just a little bit. "I know forty-two words for breasts... and I'm not allowed."

"You're not allowed to have a superhero name?" asked Buster. "Why's that?"

"My mother says it might give me ideas," Jeff replied.

"I'm Gwynn Hood and I can hit anything with my bow that I aim at. I'm also good with a sword. My best friend back homes sometimes calls me Sure Shot."

"Pleasure to meet you Gwynn." said Buster with a smile. "I'm sure you bow skills will come into use when we reach the army training portion of the class."

"My name's Edward Elric, and I'm an alchemist," he said. "I don't need a superhero name."

"Well nobody needs a superhero name." Buster said. "But don't you want one? Just for fun?"

"I'm not a superhero," Ed said determinedly. "Just a scientist."

"Well, I'm not a superhero either. Far from it. I was in Army for a while but I didn't really do any actual fighting." said Buster. He picked at his fake hand nervously. "But it's still fun to pretend to kick ass."

He eyed his teacher, unconsciously playing with the glove on his own fake hand. "I was in the army." He shrugged, not making a comment about kicking ass for once. "Fullmetal then. That's the title the Fuhrer gave me."

"Oooh! What a badass name!" Buster said. He kind of wished he thought of that for his superhero name.

"I'm Lucas Wolenczak, I used to live on a submarine and I guess I'll go with Frankenstein."

"You used to live on a submarine? That's wicked!" said Buster, laughing. "Why is your superhero name Frankenstein? Are you made of dead person parts?"

"It's just a name I use. And yeah, a big, big submarine." He felt the need to speak slowly to anyone with the surname Bluth. It was instinct now.

"Yasutora Sado, I just got a new kitten, and my superhero name would be ~~the Concubine~~ ~~Teh Chad~~ ....Chad."

He wasn't very good at things like that.

"Awww, you have a kitty? I'd get a cat but I'm allergic. I'm allergic to most animals, actually. It's the fur." said Buster. He pondered a bit at the superhero name. "Why Chad?"

Suddenly, Potpourri turned into Christmas for Chad. He lit up; inside, at least. Externally, he merely straightened up where he sat. He got to talk about his cat! "Then you'd really like Prince Oscar Pedro," he told Buster. "He's a Sphinx cat, so he doesn't have any fur. They're good for people with allergies..."

"And Chad because...that...what people call me." But that was just an afterthought. He wanted to go back to talking about the kitten.

"No fur? That's amazing!" Buster had never seen a Sphinx cat before and really had no clue what they looked like. "I wonder what it feels like to pet it..."

"I can bring him next week and you can meet him," Chad said, nodding, a very small, barely recognizable sound of hope, hope, hope somewhere in that otherwise stoicly rumbling tone of him. Please, please, please! He was almost positive now that Buster and Prince Oscar Pedro would get along famously. "He's very friendly."

"Oh, sure!" said Buster. "It can be a little show and tell thing. I'd be glad to see your cat."

"My name is Donatello, my brother got turned into a small turtle a couple weeks ago," he said, holding up the little pet-turtle-sized turtle he had with him to illustrate. "And I guess I'll go with, um, Brainiac."

"Well, let's see. I'm Eve Levine, I'm a witch -- the magic practicing kind, not the rhyme-for-bitch kind -- and I have no idea what my superhero name would be."

She might or might not have been looking disgruntled at being in a class with Johnny.

"I'm Chris Halliwell. I'm half witch, half whitelighter and, um, I haven't got a clue what my superhero name would be," Chris said, wondering if the teacher needed medication.

Talk to Buster, maybe suggest a topic to learn about this semester.

Because Buster doesn't need to responsible for the end of the world. He has enough problems.

I'm loving this class already. And Eve has the urge to pet Buster. No, you may not pet the teacher, no matter how oddly adorable you may find him.
