The usual Danger Shop Dojo was much bigger than the previous weeks, with separate areas marked off simply by white lines. For a change, Kenpachi was the one who seemed in the better mood between himself and Yachiru. His psychotic, toothy grin was smeared all over his sharp face as he loomed over the gathering students; Yachiru stood beside him, clutching his robes slightly, looking about ready to cry. She didn't want it to be the last class already...

"This," Kenpachi barked in his usual fashion, "will be our final class. I will allow myself to admit," he paused, for effect and a craning of his head that made his neck snap to the tune of jingling bells, "you've surprised me. You are all, for the most part, very good fighters. I might even go as far as to say I've enjoyed our time together, teaching you, fighting you. However, I am not a being of this world. I can't take this existence any more and they are letting me return to the Soul Society sooner than I expected. This, lucky for you, puts me in a very good mood." He flashed his grin at them all. "I can kill there. I miss killing."

"For you last exercise," he announced, "you will, unfortunately, not be killing each other, but you will be defeating each other. I have organized, with the help of my Lieutenant, who actually bothered learning your names, a tournament. You are divided into pairs; these pairs will fight and the winner will move on to the next tier to fight another winner, so on, so forth, until only one remains. That one remaining winner will get...I don't know." He smirked. "A cookie, or something."

"These pairings, to the best of my ability, have been made based on similar fighting styles and classroom activity ~~and a bit on availability~~. Or, in the case of you two with the gloves, because Yachiru insisted on it." The little pink haired girl smiled at that point, and clapped her hands together with a tiny 'yay!' "They are to be hand-to-hand, unless you both agree on specific weapons, in which case, the Danger Shop has them available to you. As much as I hate to say it, please stop the fight before you kill each other or I'll send Yachiru in to do it. You'll have to get detention, and I'll have to probably deal with a lot of bullshit that I just don't want to do, got it?"

"I think I got everyone. If I did forget you, let me know, and we'll have our TA actually do something useful and fight you. Now, get going."

There was a pause before he went to his usual spot to watch. "Oh. One last thing. I believe I am in charge of detention this week. If any of you are interested in one last class after this," GRIN, "something might be arranged. It...should be...interesting."

So, if you get your battle done, winner ping in, and then, the next available winner will fight them, so on, so forth, same with latter tiers. If we don't get a second, third, final tier? Big deal. :) No worries at all, no pressure to finish. Last class, la. No biggie.

Please, if you are unavailable for play today, whether not up to it, other engagements, whatever, it would be really awesome to forfeit your match to the other partner. This, of course, can be handwavey and all that, but it gives the people who can and want to play it out the chance to do more. I should be around for pinging at Skylie1313 if you need anything. Hope I didn't forget anything and that everything is clear.]]

Dawn had no powers to speak of, so she was there and ready to go hand-to-hand with someone she'd never really met. "Hi, um. I'm Dawn."

"Hi. I am Ami. Um, so... i guess we fight?" Ami asked, getting ready.

"I guess so," Dawn nodded, "Um, bare hands or weapons? I don't really care."

"Bare hands." Ami thought about asking about powers, but then thought better of disclosing a possible advantage.

"Okay," Dawn said, stretching out her arms, then taking a position opposite Ami, hands up and feet apart for balance.

Ami crouched slightly, lowering her center of mass. She studied Dawn, letting the other girl attack at her own pace.

Dawn punched out with her right hand, aiming for Ami's midsection. She wanted to see what she was working against before she got too involved.

Ami bent with the punch, testing Dawn's strength. This was the first time she was fighting since she remembered who she was, and the thought of not needing to zone out was interesting.

She crouched low, sweeping her leg at Dawn's ankles, trying to make the other girl lose her balance.

Dawn's strength was about average for a standard human, but where she really made up for it was in her speed--she was used to fighting slayers and vampires and demons, after all.

She skipped over Ami's leg like she was jumping rope, then kicked out with her left foot, aiming for a knee. Taking the opponent down was always the first priority.

Ami was a gymnast. So she flipped out of the way. Right her opponent was fast. Clearly what she needed was invisibility. Too bad she didn't have that skill. but she had something similar enough.

"Mercury Power MakeUp!" She said and a shortened~~i heart my canon~~ transformation scene occurred. "Mercury Bubble Mist!" and a spray of tiny cold bubbles filled the air with a mist that was almost impossible to see through.

"Oh, for crap's sake," Dawn muttered when her vision was mostly obscured. Not for the first time, she wished she had a nifty power to play with.

Instead of trying to make out Ami's form through the mist ~~and possibly inspired by too many viewings of Space Battles~~, Dawn closed her eyes completely and tried to listen for Ami's next movement.

Ami lowered a visor on her face, locating Dawn on the infrared scanner. in the contrast with the cool mist she glowed. Carefully and slowly she started circling the other girl.

Dawn was listening carefully, and when she thought she had Ami's position pinpointed, she spun and kicked out with her right leg.

She did have Ami's location exactly right but Ami jumped out of the way. Hm, this wasn't quite working. Ami took a big leap and in passing aimed a punch at Dawn's head.

Not expecting that move at all, Dawn took the punch on her ear and stood still for a minute or two as she tried to get her bearings.

Ami circled around, to do another pass by Dawn. She wondered how long this could go on though, with no resolution. Hopefully it wouldn't get to hair pulling.
