East Asian History - #8

East Asian History
Monday 6:00-8:00 pm

In a very good mood, Seimei glided in, Mitsumushi flitting behind him and he unrolled the scroll for the classes discussion.

The Nara period in Japanese history was marked by struggles over the throne and which of the clans would control that throne. What significant event occurred in 795 and what was measures were instituted in order to quiet these disturbances? Was it successful and if so, how?

“Due to the events of the weekend, I’m extending the deadline for the essay question assigned on the 19th. It will be due Thursday the 29th. As a reminder…” he gestured to the scroll still up from last Monday.

"In 795, the capital was moved to Kyoto, although it's an odd sort of thing to do when the country isn't particularly unified. The Fujiwara family more or less pulled things together and ran the country for over three hundred years. This was the period when the samurai first appeared... although this was almost a thousand years before the warriors that we know now as samurai." Wednesday paused, frowning. "And I've forgotten where I was going with this."

River takes seat on a cushion and writes the lecture highlights down on her clipboard. She knows she can fill in the more extensive details from memory later. However, what with being semi-comatose over the course of the weekend, she did still need to work out the specifics of her homework essay.
