Detention Saturday June 16th

When the students entered the Danger Shop, they found themselves in what looked like the a great stone hall.  Quite possibly because it was, in fact, a great stone hall.  Several fireplaces lined the room, each big enough to roast a whole cow.  At one end was a dais with a heavy wooden table upon it.  Three men and three women sat at the table.  The man in the middle wore a crown on his black hair and regarded the students with interest.

Aly lounged against the door in the other end of the hall and checked off the students as they came in.

John Crichton
Molly Hayes
Sabriel Abhorsen
Zuko

Once they were checked in, she sent them to stand before the King and hear his judgment.

As the prisoners students progress across the hall, it fills with whispering courtiers, all waiting to hear the judgment and peer at the accused. 

King Jonathan looked down at the students when they appeared in front of him.  "What is your name and why do you stand before me today."

Single Combat

You may choose a weapon and one of three opponents.

A knight in full armour.

A birdlike creature with the hindquarters of a lion and great wings with feathers of steel.

A three-headed slobbery dog.

"I'm Sabriel, and I don't know what I did," Sabriel admitted. She was a bit worried about that.

"Well, I don't think I've been working as hard as I could in Flight class, but you don't get detention for that. ...Do I?"

"Not doing your utmost in any endeavor is deplorable at best," the King said pompously. "What do you have to say for yourself?"

This was really not like any other detention Sabriel had ever had. She hesitated. "...I'm sorry and I'll work harder from now on?" she hazarded.

This was fun! Molly gave the king a small wave.

"I'm Molly Hayes and someone picked my name out of a hat," she said.

A small smile crossed the King's face. "You believe chance brought you to our Court?"

Molly nodded. "Yes. Because I didn't do anything to earn detention so the only explanation is the lottery."

"Hmmm," he nodded. "Then on behalf of the times you did do something and were not caught, I shall have to make my sentence."

He smiled with amusement. "True enough. And any other time we'd welcome you more properly with feasting and a ball. Today, however, I find myself with the need to sentence you."
