Too disheartened to be mad, really. "I'm sorry for kicking you, anyway. That wasn't really nice, and I shouldn't have done it, an' don't worry, no more kicking from me unless someone really, really really deserves it, which you didn't..." John felt intensely badly for Turtle. It sounded like what was going on between her and Annette was really painful. "Maybe we should get some pie sometime. I find that pie gives me a happier outlook on life."
