Dealing With Stupid People [Monday, June 11, 2nd period]

Josh leaned up against a desk in the Danger Room, hands in his pocket and a grin on his face.

"President Andrew Jackson, in the main foyer of his White House, had a big block of cheese and I can't believe I'm giving this speech," he began. "He did not, sadly, have a cracker the size of Lake Tahoe. I checked. My old boss, the White House Chief of Staff, used this folksy excuse to make us all talk to total crackpots once a year and today that privilege falls to you."

He waved his hands. "Pick a desk, make yourself comfortable, the computer'll drop someone insane off to talk to you. Try not to laugh in their faces--they're all based on real people. Um, sadly."

A disheveled man with a thick British accent staggered walked carefully into Marco's office. "Gerald? Where is Gerald? I demand to speak to Gerald!"

"Gerald is right over there." Marco said and pointed in a random direction.

The man drew himself up. "I am John, Lord Marbury, Earl of Croy, Earl of Sherborne, Marquess of Needham and Dolby, Baronet of Brycey, and that is a coat stand and not Gerald, the White House butler." He rolled his eyes. "Honestly, the help that you people give."

"Gerald is behind the coat stand your lordshipness." Marco said, refusing to roll his eyes. "He's shy."

"He's also chubby and not there," Lord Marbury insisted. "Honestly. We should recolonize you."

"That sounds painful." Marco commented. "Can I take a message instead?"

Lord Marbury stood tall. "I was here to help you foster peace between India and Pakistan, but because you are being unhelpful, I will now let the Kashmir explode, World War III to begin and your president to be held accountable for it. Well done!"

He spun on his heel to stalk out the door.

Lord Marbury rolled his eyes. "Well Gerald doesn't keep you very well informed now does he? Have I wandered into the copy center?"

"That's down the hall, three doors to the left." Marco helpfully made up.

"That was an insult," Lord Marbury said haugtily. "Clearly I shouldn't waste any more of time you could better spend counting what's left of your teeth. Good day."

Marco waved. "Bye-bye. Don't run into the coat rack on your way out! And I have 30 of them at last count."
