How to Annoy Your Teachers (And Not Get Turned Into Animals) [Week 3, Period 2]

It's another day at the main campfire for John's class. He's got a doughnut in one hand and...a doughnut in the other. What? Growing boy and all. After everyone made their way over and found a seat, John put his snacks down and rubbed his hands together.

"First of all, let's see your homework if you did it," he said. "Show me your amazing skills at annoying all the teachers you can. And I hope," he said and eyed Sokka, "no one threw bombs this time. Some teachers might be women but they could still snap my neck."

He waited until homework turned in before going into today's lesson.

"Today, we're going to learn about one of the first things that I ever used to try to annoy a teacher here with. Making up a different persona is fun. You can let your imagination run wild, pardon the cliché, and be just about anyone or anything. In fact, the more outlandish, the better. When you use this technique, props are optional but encouraged. For instance, if you're going to be a pirate? Bring a stuffed parrot or a hook for a hand. Seeing your commitment to Sparkle Motion the character's only going to make the teacher more eyerolly than he or she already is. And keep in character. Throughout the entire class, don't let the character drop. Sign in with your made up name, talk in an accent, answer questions according to the character you have chosen. The key to this method is endurance. Don't let the teacher's glares make you drop character."

He paused for a moment. "You're still not allowed to throw bombs for this one. Don't be a mad bomber what bombs at midnight, please. If the teacher starts to question you, just stay in character, pretend they are the delusional one and perhaps offer them the use of some psychiatric services. That's always fun."

John looked around the room, trying to picture what each student might make up. "So, for today's assignment, I want you to make up a quick character. One the spot, make it up and talk to me with that persona. I'll ask you some basic questions, try to get you to drop character and see how you do. And no throwing bombs at me either."

"For your homework, I want you to make up a character for one of your classes and stick with it the entire time. See how long it takes the teacher to notice, how long it takes them to get annoyed and how they might try to force you to drop your character. Stay strong though!"

[OOC: Homework can be handwavy, just don't use specific teacher names if you handwave so as not to mod something that shouldn't be modded. Again, you don't get in trouble if you tell the teacher John sent you. Also, fellow teachers who have been annoyed? Feel free to confront John in the appropriate thread! Have fun!]

Rikku thought for a minute and then bounced up. "I'll be right back, honest."

She dashed into Kraken and grabbed a few supplies - namely, sunglasses, high heels, and a scarf to wrap around her neck.

She sauntered back to the campfire (with minimal wobbling ... stupid heels) and sat down with the best air that she could, sighing loudly at the inconvenience of being here.

Rikku gave him her most patronizingly smile. "Darling. If you're wondering, 'are you indeed the Gabriella von Santos de Redine?' why not ask that? It would save us both a great deal of time, you know."
the_merriest: (me? really?)

Rikku put a hand over her chest. "Oh, my gracious. Are you saying that the people in this little town don't gossip-monger about celebrities? That an Academy-Award winning professional such as myself might walk around without scheming up a costume in order to be incognito? What a refreshing change! I might stay for ages, if I could just be one of the simple folk again."

"To answer your question, I fancy myself a player upon the stage." She gave him her best dazzling smile. Ah, Valentine. She was going to have to thank him for all that leading lady stuff.

Rikku smiled charmingly. "Ah. Well, I do prefer the theatre, as it is a much purer art form. I have however been known to dabble in a few films du cinéma now and again, and have achieved some little measure of fame for it, I must say."

She wrinkled her nose. "And in the past, when I was suffering for my craft, I would occasionally take money to appear in those hideous programmes they put on the television, but please don't tell anyone. I'm deeply ashamed."

"If you're speaking of those hideous rumors that my birthname was actually 'Gail Sanderson'," Rikku said icily, "then I have no desire to even dignify your question with a response. And pie goes straight to my hips."

Rikku waved dismissingly. "If you insist on chittering away in nonsense, then be off with you. You're nearly as annoying as the tabloids. I didn't pay extravagantly for this vacation in order to be pestered by plebians like yourself."

"Isn't that obvious?" Rikku humphed. "Must I make it clearer? Do you wish for me to call the manager, and let him know what sort of riff-raff is running his resort? He won't be pleased."
the_merriest: (dude seriously)

"You may say whatever you like." Rikku took off her sunglasses and gave him her best Lulu stare. "And I shall enjoy getting you fired."

Pfft. Detention was pretty fun, actually. He should try a real threat.

Okay, that was a hard one. But he was probably bluffing, and if he wasn't, Jude would totally sneak her cookies. Right? Right.

Rikku lifted her chin and gave John her iciest glance before looking at the rest of the students. "Does anyone have a cell phone? I need to make a phone call to this man's superiors. The service here is shockingly abominable."
the_merriest: (face down)

Rikku swallowed hard and hoped she didn't show it. Jude would forgive her. Right?

"All right," she said in a small voice. "My ... my birth name really was Gail Sanderson. But if you tell anybody that I will hurt you. Do you understand me!?"

She kicked the ground and mumbled "Worst resort ever."

Rikku bowed. "I would certainly try, sensei."

And then froze. "Oh, no, that wasn't, like, one last test, was it? Did I just fail right there 'cause I should have kept going?"
the_merriest: (uhhhhh... [p])

"Oh. Good. And, uh, that's the problem," Rikku said with a sigh. "I've got three classes this term and they're all awesome. There's one on exploding things with Aly, and one on stealing things with Vala, and then this class. If I still had class with that stupid wannabe god guy, I'd do stuff every week, but I kinda like my professors right now so I don't usually bug them, because they teach me cool stuff about blowing stuff up and stealing things and, you know. Annoying people."

"I don't think I've met GOB," she mused. "Does it still count as annoying if they don't know the character is someone new? I mean, obviously I'm not Gabriella whoever, right?"
