Building a Better Fighter [Week 2, Period 5]; Thursday 05/24
As Kenpachi walked into the Danger Shop, assuming all the students were already present with impeccable punctuality, he was moving a little stiffly, the bells at the tips of his spiky hair tingling significantly more than usual, and each little resounding one making him wince slightly. Yes, if you mention anything about him moving like his body had taken a sound beating, he will give you detention. And possibly sic Yachiru, who still clung to his shoulder despite the deep wounds there because he liked how her aggravating them reminded him of them, on you.
The Shop itself was structured to appear likea level in a first person shooter a metallic chamber, with a series of raised platforms, stairs, columns, and corridors to other smaller chambers.
"Listen up!" he barked to get their attentions, jerkily moving back and forth in front of them as he spoke, hands on his hips. Yachiru made silly faces at them all while he lectured, just to see who would break and get yelled at by him.
"Anyone," he started, "can be inspired to kill a 'scary' monsters." His eyes scanned the room for the one student who, in fact, failed at this task last week; not seeing her, he grunted, smirking. Like the witch had told him, best the fighting be left to fighters. "Well, most people, anyway. I will admit, I was impressed by your performances last week. Needless to say," he send one of his sneering grins over the class, "my expectations were low, anyway."
"Self-preservation against something larger than you, trying to eat you, invulnerable to most attacks, comes natural. A kitten, cornered by jackals, will lash out against them even if she realizes she doesn't stand a chance. Yes, many of you exhibited some level of skill; the majority of you depended on sheer dumb luck."
"Never forget, though, that sheer dumb luck will most likely be your best friend in a fight. But she's a bastard, and will just as soon desert you in favour of your enemy without warning. You can't rely on her..."
Yachiru tapped Kenpachi on the shoulder. He grunted as he turned toward her. "Keep on topic, Ken-chan!" she whispered in his ear, though loud enough that everyone could probably still hear it.
"Right. Anyway. Good job on the Hollows. But can you do the same on more familiar enemies? Can you fight...your own peers?"
"Your assignment today is to participate in a battle royale, against each other. The winner...will gain respect and the knowledge that, congratulations, for the moment, you are the strongest, the luckiest, aren't you special? The losers...have the chance to improve and the benefit of lower expectations for future classes to...impress me." Another sneering smile. "Those who refuse to participate will be asked to leave the classroom in disgrace with a direct ticket to detention."
"No weapons, either. I couldn't...quite get the Danger Shop to do what I wanted in that respect. Yachiru here will be on the battlefield and will determine when you have been defeated and may leave the competition. She will also be of assistance should any of you find yourselves in a relative stalemate. I will carefully be observing you all, so if you have any desire for admonitions when you finished, I suppose I will humour you."
He paused, looking over them all. "Well?" He turned his back to find his observation spot and waved a hand at them. Yachiru hopped to her feet, bouncing. "Go."
[[Wait for the OCD, please. Big Fat OCD is up! More explanation on how the battle royale will work inside! Oooh, exciting! A winner has been randomly selected prior to class and has been contacted with special instructions. ]]

The only person whose strengths she knew well enough to battle against today was Teddy. Since she didn't want detention, she decided that he would be the only person she did fight today.
If anyone else approached her for a fight, she would refuse.
She just hoped she didn't disappoint Kenpachi too much.

Mikey has his shell, his too-much-sugar energy level, and a lifetime of ninja training by a pretty radical rat. He'll probably come out middle-to-upper tier come the end.

Re: (Handwavey!) -- 05/24
Adam has a few years of martial arts training under his belt, so to speak and has his Ranger experience as well. So, he'd be in the middle to upper tier, definitely.

"Time is up!" he announced. "Since there is no clear victor, I will announce the winner based on performance. The winner is..."
"Eduardo."

Um, anyway, yes. Questions? Comments? Coffee and/or pie? I should be around all day on on AIM at Skylie1313, too, (unless I finally get a job interview, omg!) should you need to poke and this here OOC world-end-preventing thread just won't do.
