Firearms and You #2 (Monday, period 1)

Once again the class was in the Danger Shop, which was set up to look like a target range again. There was coffee and donuts on the table with the sign in sheet as well as another handout.

"Good morning," John said, putting down his own cup of coffee. "Today we're going to be looking -- and trying out -- various sorts of handguns." He talked at some length about the various types and advantages and disadvantages, covering the information that was in the handout.

"But enough talking," he said finally. "What you're all here for is to get to actually try them out for yourself. So please step up to one of the open spots on the target range. Like last week, the computer will provide whatever gun you ask to try -- as long as that gun falls under the category of handgun and is a projectile -- not energy -- weapon. If you're comfortable with a certain type of handgun, try something different. I'll be around to each of you to observe and give advice and suggestions as I feel are needed. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Please remember the gun safety rules we talked about last week and follow them; failing to do so will earn you detention." John looked around at the students and gave a boyish grin. "So, shall we begin?"

Lana listened intently and took lots of notes, comparing them with some of the information she'd looked up on the internet since the last class.

"Sig P226, please," Lana said politely.

Turtle drank some coffee. Because she figured what went for business ettiquette might as well go with guns, too. She still didn't like it. Bleech.

Dawn took a lot of notes. Maybe if she took enough of them she wouldn't have to worry about picking up a handgun.

She was pretty much writing down every word Professor Winchester said, verbatim.

Dawn was back to staring at the handguns, having no idea which to pick. They all looked lethal.

"Any suggestions?"

Billy tried to think of what other kinds of handguns he'd always wanted to try out. He could think of two of the top of his head.

Abigail wasn't really the note-taking type, but she did listen attentively.

"Umm...." Her poor shot done and over with, Turtle was holding the gun limply and as far away from herself as possible. She inspected it for a moment before looking back at Professor Winchester and decided that 'shiny' wouldn't be the best response.

"Good market reviews?"

"Let's start with the more modern and then go back." Billy mused aloud. "Six shooter revolver, circa 1870's."
