When the students in the workshop arrived at the tables by the main campfire, they found them covered with phones.

"Welcome to the help desk!" Josh said, grinning proudly. "People are very stupid over the phone, especially when they know you can't see the expression on their faces. This is also why video conferences aren't as popular as regular conference calls--hiding your eyerolling is easier when, well, they can't see your eyes."

He waved his hands out. "Today you will be manning a help desk. I have ~~handwavily~~ put out posters to let people know that it's open during this class time, so the phones should start ringing any minute now. Your job is to answer the person's question in the most polite way possible without letting them know you think they are completely out of their minds."

"Coffee, muffins and bagels are available, answering their questions correctly is completely optional." Josh smirked. "Have fun."

[OOC: Phone lines are open for townies, students, and faculty members to call in. Josh has conveniently forgotten to specify what kind of help the students would offer. Ask for relationship advice, song requests, technical support, people to vote for or against bills in Congress, just to say hi...go nuts.

Ba'al sat down and glared at the phone. One good thing was, if he lost control of his Evil Red Eye Glow the stupid person on the other end of the line would never know.

After being hung up on by Turtle, Jaye calls back.

"Help desk, Ba'al speaking," Ba'al parroted into the phone. "How may I help you?"

"I called to request a song, and someone hung up on me," Jaye says. "What are you going to do about it?"

"Nothing, most likely," Ba'al said, rather amused. "What song did you request?"

"I don't know the name. It goes 'da da da da dun, dun, dun, da da da dun dun," she says. It's a totally different tune than the one she gave Turtle, and also, not really a tune. "Do you know it?"

"No," Ba'al said. He was completely honest in this case. He didn't know much of Tau'ri music. "What is its planet of origin?"

"...Earth. Come on, you have to know it. Sing it with me. Da da da da dun, da da..."

Ba'al shrugged, "I do not. Nor do I sing. Are those the words, da dun, da... How did it go again?"

Okay, now he was playing with her.

"Da da da da dun, dun da, da da da da da," she says. "I bet you have a great singing voice."

Ba'al smiled at that. He could use his deep, resonant Goa'uld voice, but thought it might be best NOT to scare the callers.

"I have many talents," Ba'al said, "I do not count singing among them. However, you do not need me to sing to request a song. Unless your goal has changed since calling."

"Yes. Now I want you to sing. I really think you should sing," Jaye says. "The customer is always right!"

Ba'al sighed, the idiotic things one had to do when impersonating a Tau'ri. "Da da da da dun," he 'sang' all on one note, "dadada."

"Is that to your satisfaction?"

GOB placed a call.

The phone in front of him rang again. Oh well, time to try again. He picked up the receiver.

"Help desk, Ba'al speaking," Ba'al repeated, with rather a lot less enthusiasm than he had for the first caller.

"You don't sound like the pirate. He's the one who usually gives me help over the phone," GOB noted.

"This is Ba'al," he repeated, annoyed, "I am a student. Not a pirate. How many I help you?"

"You can help me by telling me where the pirate went," GOB demanded.

"Is this is a space pirate or a nautical pirate?" Ba'al asked.

"Radio pirate," GOB said.

Ba'al stopped short. Oh, radio pirate. Well, that didn't help. He certainly had never SEEN the radio pirate before.

"You must describe him to me," he said, rather snappishly, "or I will not be able to locate him."

"Talks with a piratey accent, he's filthy, probably carrying rum..." GOB said. "Is that enough?"

"Enough to tell me he is not here," Ba'al said, not bothering to look around. He would've noticed some one like that, right? "Have you looked in the last place you had him?"

"He's not at the bar and he's not on the phone. I have no clue where else to look," GOB said.

"Perhaps he is avoiding you, though I could not imagine why," Ba'al said, unhelpfully. This activity was beginning to wear him out. "If he is a pirate it would be logical to check his ship."
