New Kid Registration and Check-In - Open Tent Outside the Dorms - All Day Friday

Well, the office was gone, but apparently that didn't mean that the office drones had time off. They were in an open tent outside the dorms processing new students bright and early on Friday morning.

It was a veritable paperwork conga line as the human-looking members of the staff did their thing, along with Fred Trooper, Bucky T. Squirrel, Venus, Bob Gremlin and Roz. You might even see the tech support kitten out and about, trying to keep the computers running. Robert Goulet had a family reunion to go to and couldn't make it.

Jude scratched the back of his neck. "Y' okay, bro? You're lookin' kinda unmellow . . ."

Some kind of stoner kid. Made sense, he supposed. "It's all kind of . . . overwhelming, you know. All these new people . . . looking . . . judging. . . ."

Jude patted him on the shoulder. "No one's judgin', bro. We're too weird."

"I don't get that! I mean, what's with all the weird?! Those guys are wearing turtle costumes! And they're collecting weapons!"

"I'm pretty sure they're actually turtles," Jude said thoughtfully. "And duh, 'course they're doing the weapons thing. So we don't kill each other. 'Cause some of these dudes? Totally need to like learn to meditate or somethin'."

"Right. 'Actual turtles'." Warren shook his head. "So this is some kind of school for psychos? That wasn't in the brochure!"

"Dude," Jude looked hurt.

"Oh, come on, I didn't mean you. . . . Unless you brought weapons, too,"

"Nope. I'm a total pacifist."

"Well, then, I didn't mean you."

"But still, dude. Psychos. Harsh."

"What else am I supposed to think?" Warren was close to flailing. "Weapons!"

Jude held up a finger. "Who's juding now, dude?"

"But . . . but that's different!"

"Is it?"

"Yes! I don't have weapons!"

"Doesn't explain why you're judging the people who do," Jude pointed out.

". . . You're making my head hurt."

"Look. Some guys around here need those weapons to survive back home. Like my girlfriend. So don't be all weapons equal psycho, 'kay?"

". . . Woah . . . sorry, geez,"

Jude just smiled mellowly. "'Sokay, bro. Just don't be so narrow, 'kay?"

"I'm not narrow! I just don't want to get stabbed!"

Jude rolled his eyes. "No one's going to stab you, bro."

"I need to get some armor or something,"
