New Kid Registration and Check-In - Open Tent Outside the Dorms - All Day Friday

Well, the office was gone, but apparently that didn't mean that the office drones had time off. They were in an open tent outside the dorms processing new students bright and early on Friday morning.

It was a veritable paperwork conga line as the human-looking members of the staff did their thing, along with Fred Trooper, Bucky T. Squirrel, Venus, Bob Gremlin and Roz. You might even see the tech support kitten out and about, trying to keep the computers running. Robert Goulet had a family reunion to go to and couldn't make it.

Griffin held out his hand to shake, but remained as distant as possible, taking in the skater attire which starkly contrasted his sweater vest and slacks. "Hi... must you always use the word 'Dude' in a sentence?" he asked with a smirk.

"Um . . ." Jude thought about the question for a moment. "Yeah, I think so."

"....Right," Griffin said, letting go of Jude's hand after the shake, and picked up his fork again, taking another bite of pie. "So, how long have you been at Fandom?"

"A year now," Jude said mellowly, rocking on his feet. "Wow. Totally seems not that long. But yeah, I got here for summer last year." He smiled. "It's pretty sweet here."

Griffin nodded, swallowing. "Well, my parents seemed to think so, too, which is why they sent me here... but eh, I just hope there's fun things to do on weekends."

"Dude, there's always fun things to do," Jude assured him. "Weekends are usually when weird stuff goes down."

Griffin raised an eyebrow. "Weird stuff?"

Jude ticked them off on his fingers. "Jell-o dragons, turning into kids, turning into chicks, turning into cats, not being able to talk . . ."

Griffin took an involuntary step back in surprise and semi-disgust, which quickly turned into an intense grin of mischeviousness. "Oh really... and are these student-managed, by chance?"

"Huh?" Yes, this was Jude with all cylinders firing.

Griffin sighed a bit exasperatedly, trying to keep his patience. "I mean, do these strange phenomenons happen purely by accident, or do the students have a say in what goes on? When there was a Jell-O dragon, did someone make it?"

"Oh! Uh, nah, nah, bro. Accident. And the Jell-o dragons just like showed up outta nowhere. It was awesome. Uh, when they weren't, like, actually attacking. So it was awesome for like, a minute."

"I see," Griffin said, somewhat disappointed. "Well," he ventured again, "Student pranks aren't... unheard of, are they?"

Jude's eyes lit up. "Totally not, bro. Totally."

Griffin grinned. "Excellent. I'm sure you've got some stories to share?"

"Walk and talk with me, Little Bro," Jude said, meandering away from the crowd.

"I'm all ears," Griffin said, taking his last bite of pie and setting the empty plate down on the table, joining up with Jude on the fringes of the crowd.
