Fandom High Graduation Ceremony Class of 2007 Part I - Saturday Afternoon

The sun was shining high in the sky above the front lawn (not that this would matter to certain members of the audience since there was a nice awning and shaded pathways). A stage was set up with a podium and several seats for the administration and guests. Off to the side of the stage, a guitar for musical performances.

In front of the stage, blue and gold chairs were set for the largest graduating class in Fandom High history (not that it was a tough record to achieve), and to either side of those chairs were bleachers for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town of Fandom who wanted to wtiness this event.

It was a beautiful day for a graduation.

It'll be kind of hard to miss the events of the second post, so you might want to hold off an any post-graduation posts for a while to avoid being Jossed.]

"Oh, Callisto," Anakin said softly, chewing on his lip as he fought back the impulse to touch her. "Sorry doesn't come close to covering it."

"It's not your fault," Callisto said quietly. "It's mine."

"Pretty sure it's not," Anakin said gently, rubbing at the scar on his face.

"Has to have been," she said. "No reason why I keep getting punished for it otherwise."

"What do you think you did that could possibly justify this kind of pain?" he asked.

"I don't know," Callisto replied. "Exist, survived, didn't keep to my place, put my faith in someone I loved, was stupid enough to think that a promise was worth something, arrogant enough to believe that high-minded words of justice, and protection, and right actually applied just as much to someone like me as to a stranger on the street, wasn't pregnant. It doesn't matter, just pick one."

Anakin's expression darkened as she went through the list. "He did that to you?"

"No, I did," Callisto said. "It was...preferable."

"Then what happened?" Anakin asked. "Why aren't you dead?"

"You think I don't ask myself that? Especially considering he threw me out and left me to rot afterwards," Callisto replied. "Apparently, it's more than acceptable for Logan to attack me, destroy my mind, everything that makes me, me, for no reason, but not for me to take steps to prevent it happening again."

Anakin went very, very still. "Logan mind-whammied you. LOGAN?"

Callisto nodded. "And Angel let him. If it hadn't been for Bridge..."

Anakin could only process one thought at a time. "Angel knew about it?"

"He said he didn't know until after Logan did it, but he did nothing once he did." Her lip curled. "At least nothing that would interfere with his sexlife."

"Logan mindwhammied you and Angel's sleeping with him?" Anakin said, voice getting dangerously screechy. "I'll kill them both with a smile on my face."

"That was why Angel took him with him when he left," Callisto bit out, before her shoulders slumped. "Don't bother, after all, I deserved it."

"The hell you did," Anakin spat. "I mindwhammied Logan a million years ago over something he already knew and got verbally skewered by Angel. This is completely unacceptable."

"Then why was I told to 'stop whining' about it?"

"He said what?!"

"And that it was my choice if I wanted to live in self-pity."

"..."

"..."

"Hair Gel, King of the Brooders, said this?"

"Right before he told me to get out," Callisto said. "Although that had as much to do with his ego getting bruised as anything."

"...how did his ego get bruised?" Anakin asked.

"He made it clear that he was going to let nothing happen to Logan, that I was so worthless in his eyes that I didn't have a right to make sure it didn't happen again," Callisto said. "I wanted to make him feel worthless back, so I told him I wasn't going to take orders from someone who only existed because the universe had indigestion, called him a pissy little bitch. He told me to get out."

Anakin was speechless.
